If I had to guess without better pictures, it looks like a custom.

The guy sold a custom Zarana that would've been way harder to do than assembling SI from the existing parts. And the only thing he couldn't have done himself was make a clear visor, which is probably why this figure doesn't have a clear visor. I wouldn't mind getting this custom for $15 myself though.

What? I will gladly pay $15.00 for that figure. Even as a custom, it would hold me over until I eventually get my hands on a real proto. Who is the seller?

Seller shipped it out yesterday, so hopefully I'll get it sometime this week to tell what it is. It was a fairly cheap investment if it turns out to be a custom, came up to just over $20 with shipping.
That said, when you compare the pics of it to the other customs the guy had listed, this one looked WAY better finished/painted than the other figures he had listed. That was why I took the chance that it might be the prototype. Hopefully will see in the next few days. Will def post pics either way!

Sometimes cancelled figures end up on the market without any gear, maybe that's what happened here and the seller simply took the visor off another figure to make it look better (I did this with my cancelled nanobat's belt).

Got the figure in today - -- definitely looks like one of the prototypes. It's fully molded/painted in the correct colors, definitely not a custom. It has an "H" burned into the left front shoulder. No marker/writing on it that I can see. The visor however, does not look like the more translucent grey that came with the figure. Must have been switched somewhere down the line.

PythonBat - Thanks for confirming on the figure, nice to hear from someone who actually owns one already.
Magick - I haven't had too many hits like this one. Best find I think I have ever had was a vintage Star Wars Blue Snaggletooth. Found it at a Goodwill for about $0.25. I won't lie, I've actually been considering paring down my Joes. Not sure if I want to or not, and if I do, what I'd keep. If I do end up parting with some and this doesn't make the cut, I will let you know!
