"First you feel our rotor wash, then you'll taste a hailstorm of hot lead!"
Heli-Vipers, this year's 3pk exclusive figure at JoeCon in Loveland, Colorado. Heli-Vipers were released in 1992 packaged with a Battle Copter that first showed up in 1991 with The Interrogator and Major Altitude. Not much is known of the Heli Vipers. To my knowledge they were neither in the ARAH comics nor in the DiC cartoons. All I know about them is from their file cards. Which states you either become a Heli-Vipers or you don't become a member of Cobra at all, period. Heli-Vipers consist of Head: Snow Serpent v8 Torso & Arms: Shock Trooper v1 Upper Legs, Knees & Feet: Sky Dive v2 Lower Legs: Night Creeper v11 Basically a repaint of the Night Viper v4 with a Snow Serpent head. The Club had it pretty easy producing an Modern Era version of the Heli-Vipers, with Hasbro doing most of the work on the previously released Night Vipers. The ARAH '92 Heli-Vipers was the same except for the arms being from Techno Viper v1. Accessories for the Heli-Vipers are the vest/harness from M.A.R.S. INDUSTRIES OFFICER v1, pistol from duke v42, rifle from Shock Trooper and the flight pack from Cobra Commander v53. Overall this figure was meh for me. I had no attachment to the character since I never owned the ARAH version and he didn't get any type of media coverage in the comics or cartoon(from what I know). The two tone purple doesn't help and you still have the same issues with the foot pegs and the holes not being shallow enough. It is another check mark on the list of ARAHs to get the Modern Era treatment. I ended selling two of them to fellow 'Tankers. I honestly can't recommend this figure unless your are a hardcore completest of G.I. Joe toys. You can try and track one down, but your better off just repainting a Night Viper with a Snow Serpent head (in better Cobra-istic colors) which aren't hard to get.

I had trouble getting his helicopter backpack on. Didn't want to snap the straps.
Any suggestions?

Patience & a lot of finessing his arms around the straps.
Took me a few minutes the first time.

Agree on your assessment. I bought one off of eBay just to have (I'm a real fan!), but not a figure for which I'd seek out multiples.

I hate that webgear but if I had the chance, I probably would get one just for the completist sake in me.

I want a squad of these guys, if any of you have them and do not like them let me know. Also on the shallow foot pegs, there is s standard drill bit diameter that will correct that, just find the drill bit that fits snug in the hole, put it in your drill and give a few turns and they work as well as any other peg hole once you are done. I had to do this with about half of my TBS FO Storm troopers, a lot of modern Joes.

Don't know what it is about these guys, but the color combination has really grown on me. They've become my favorite troopers from this year's con set.

This is an ok figure, not bad not good, just ok. I am glad it is faithful to the original and while his colors are similar to the Night Vulture, I seem to find them more appealing on NV than HV.
