The Sting Raider is a completely new mold of the vintage Water Moccasin. The whole vehicle has been bulked up a bit with a lot of new detail added. All the old favorites are here, rotating gunners turret, removable canopy, spinning fan blade, opening storage cases, surface torpedo and movable fan vanes. Each and every thing I've mentioned has been improved in some way. The Fan Vanes are much sturdier and don't seem anywhere near as fragile as the vintage ones. The spinning fan blade still has the removable cover for the engine, but the engine is all new (I actually like the old one better) It's easier to take the cover off if you remove one of the storage cases first. The surface torpedo no longer looks like a box with skis and it attaches to the Sting Raider by sliding into the rear hull instead of plugging onto a peg like the old one. The storage cases are bigger as are the side cannons and the cannon on the gunner's turret. The canopy looks similar to the original but now it snaps into place instead of just sitting on the roll cage. Speaking of which, the roll cage has now been removed which opens the cockpit up quite a bit. There are now many more foot pegs all over this ship. Instead of just having two on the back stands, there are now four pegs along with two on the front of the ship so you can load up your Sting Raider with eight figures in total!
There is a slight bit of bad news, since Copperhead is so big and his neck is molded forward a bit, he can be tricky to fit into the cockpit. It's not too hard, but his head will pretty much be right against the canopy. Other than that one flaw (Which is more on the figure instead of the vehicle) this is a great update to a vintage vehicle. It's been bulked up and all past flaws have been improved upon. Python Patrol Copperhead is almost the same mold as the previous Copperhead we got but there are a few differences. His pistol holster has been replaced with a new knife sheath and the ribbed section on the outside left leg now is a pocket. This is kinda strange as the vintage Python Patrol figure didn't even have these changes, but I assume the gun holster was changed out due to space issues in the cockpit of the Sting Raider. If that's true though, why add a thicker part to the other leg? He also has two new hands now thus fixing the problem many people had with the open left hand that came from Roadblock. Copperhead has a slightly different paint job from the vintage Python Patrol figure in that the pants are darker, he no longer has the "yellow underwear" look and his neck and arms are flesh toned now instead of python colored. For those customizers out there, this is an easy Sgt. Slaughter mod. The right arm now boasts a Python Patrol tattoo. Copperhead comes with a Knife and Cobra Stand.
This is a nice update to the original figure that has an improved color scheme. For Python Patrol fans and customizers, this is a great figure. The only problem is with the elbows. They used black colored elbow joints, I assume to make the black arm bands seem consistent from the front. Figure Rating: 8 out of 10 Last edited by Shogi; 08-31-2011 at 06:16 PM.. |

I hadn't seen this one at retail yet, and had no intention of getting it, but might now. It looks great, though I don't care for the Python Patrol look of Copperhead.

Thanks for the review. Pretty cool update of the vintage one. Definitely be picking up a couple of these. The Water Moccasin/Sting Raider was always my HISS Tank of the water.

i loved pp as a kid, as a big kid now a days, it holds no value, but this ch is perfect for customs.. a lil paint thinner an q-tip an that tat is gone.. i did the same thing with cp ss tat on his left fore arm. this moccason is just bad ass!!!!! its a moc on roids. wait till you guys see the custom im working on now wit' this copperhead torso. i make my own characters, i never try to reinvent an old figure, i have no interest. all in all this is a must have for the pp fans an the moc fans. get one or ten an enjoy em!! i want more redo's like this one!! these 25th vehicles are some of the best things i seen ever!! thanks for the review brother!

I can't wait to get a couple of these. I've always been a big fan of the Water Moccasin/Sting Raider (name sucks), but oh well atleast we all know what it's really called. I had one; and still have it with CopperHead, when I was small. Did a little customizing which back then I thought mine looked cool cause it had more paint detail than my buddies. LoL. But I can't wait. Thanks for the review, Shogi.

Great review! This looks like the best so far in 25th vehicle line up. What a brilliant adaptation. I'm getting the shakes waiting for fine from HTS. Tuesday the 16th can not come some enough.

Are there other vehicles that they just made a new mold for, or is this the first?
