I am loving these sets! Can't wait for them to hit my area.
But I am looking at these as bases to build the difinative versions of these figures (if needed). Snake Eyes - Love the new Timber sculpt. Rather buy this pack than waist money on the HOH just to get it. For SE, I like the upper torso, but hate the legs and head. I plan on swaping the legs from the Black Commando and one of the heads from Tri-Gate Creations. The gear is awesome. Flint: Glad to finially get the corrected arms in this figure. But I am not digging that head sculpt. I will replace it with one of the Tri-Gate heads. Lady Jaye: Never was much a fan of the Cartoons as I was of the comics. I like the new arms and legs, but I am not digging the up turned collar. I plan on taking the arms and putting them on a version 1 body. The legs are cool, but I see them as custom foder for another female character. Hawk: Custom foder Shipwreck: This a great and needed update to this character. The first version just was lacking attention, like it was rushed. For a cartoon based design, he looks more realistic in proportions than the first. If he was on a single card, he could easily be a sailor army builder. I sould not change a thing with this one. Plus I love the new sculpt of Polly. The other version reminded me of the dead bird skit from Monty Python. This new sculpt looks more alive and fun to look at. |

1st rate. They use good cardboard, lots of bubble wrap, they have their own "BBTS Fragile!" packing tape and they stick orange fragile stickers on it. I've never had any issue with stuff from BBTS.

Wow, the issue with Hawk's holster and gun sounds like the same issue that CP Beachhead has. What I ended up doing was taking apart the legs on both the W2 version and the CP one, and switching the holsters.
BTW, why do you say Hawk would have made a great Keel Haul? I mean KH looks nothing like Hawk's body or Red Star's head, espcially since Red Star does not have a mustache. Also the reason I even chose Keel Haul was because the packaging is set on the Flagg, who better to have in a box set with pictures of the Flagg in the background? |

Thanks for the great review and pics, Shogi. Lady J is perfect. Shipwreck is now really close to its rah version. Then add Flint's and SEs changes and this set is a must have IMHO. Hawk is the CC in this set. Oh well he will be thrown into my custom fodder.

Yeah I think I got the 1/4 filled in holster. The holster on my wave 9 Hawk is nice and empty and the gun is slightly thinner. This Hawk the gun is a little thicker and the holster doesn't go all the way down (I tried putting wave 9's gun into the holster and it wouldn't fit as far down as it does on the wave 9 Hawk)
I've been solving this problem since wave 9 by giving Hawk the small .45 that came with Shipwreck/Scarlett. Fits great. I'll have to see when I open my 5-pack what that holster is like.

Flint is UGLY. Shipwreck is UGLY. Polly and Timber look stupid.
Only good thing about this set is Lady Jaye. I think they made Flint worse with this figure.

This set is definitely more appealing to me than the Cobra set (I ended up getting both). Snake Eyes is the best figure in the Joe set. Awesome sculpt and comes with all of his '85 gear (I might swap the wave 1 SE head on here, though); 9/10. Hawk is just, meh and the wave 9 figure is loads better than this repaint; 4/10. Lady Jaye sucks (and yes, I know I am in the minority on this) but I never liked the cartoon version of her. The face sculpt on this fig is really terrible and ugly, too. I'm one of the few people who liked the wave 2 Lady Jaye (she resembles the old '85 figure the most); 5/10. Flint is for the most part improved except for the new neanderthal looking head; 7/10. Shipwreck. This figure looks much more like the original '85 counterpart and he finally is a little bit more stocky in appearance. I don't like the new, shrimpy arms, though (I'll be swapping the old ones back on I guess); 8/10.
Overall, I give this 5-pack a decent 7.

I like this set. Hawk stinks, and will never get display time.
SE is definitely my favorite. |
