Wow, finally got this set.
I love it. Even the Duke (parts of him, at least) will go to use. And this marks the FIRST time I've opened a set of figures when I didn't have my "boxed" set first. That's right, I couldn't wait, and opened the first one I found, I wanted to get into it that bad. Alpine is great. One of my favorite figures! I've been waiting for this guy since Bazooka was announced. Other than having to paint the inner leg wells on the pelvis joint (I had to word that correctly) on both Alpine and Bazooka to match their pants, they're both 2 of my favorites from the line. And the 2 pals can hang out now! CC is 1 of 2 default CCs now. I will keep this one on the glider as it's a cool display, plus the blue helmet only matches that body perfectly. I'm still keeping Wave 8 CC (with the M.A.S.S. element) with the CP Pack (with Tripwire) head as my "hooded" CC. I like the balled-up fist, and I like his classic gun and the slightly-darker blue on the suit, and the even darker mask. The chrome helmet is great! The new Trooper is pretty sweet, although I switched heads with a regular Trooper. This new head/helmet went on my silver-emblem Trooper. I like both helmet designs, I just wish they were all consistent—one or the other. The design on the new one is much more realistic though, and feels like it could actually protect a human head. Odd that he has the old crotch, but he does have the new right-leg-pocket mold, the same as the Bazooka Trooper (there's an extra button, check it). Duke is trash with that mustard shirt... He may go with my "spare set" of 'toon figures, since I have almost a complete set of the major players now anyways... I won't leave the head as Duke, but it looks cool on Serpentor's (DVD pack) body with the helmet on. The Jetpack straps are nice to finally have. The little extras are just awesome nerdy goodness. That little camera and the bomb are totally awesome. I hope they keep giving us little "treats" like those as pack-in extras. Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 11-21-2008 at 08:19 PM.. |

If anything for those who want the CC webgear from Claw removed just swap heads and arms with the SRO Cobra Commander they look about the same shade of blue right?

ONLY flaw I had with this CC is his stirrups aren't painted blue. It probably looks better that way, it's just not accurate. |

Hold it, CC's backpack is not removable? Please tell me the colors are at least identical to the one with the MASS Device crystals, as I'm going to have to switch out the head and arms then.
As for Duke, it looks like I'll be taking that Duke's body and giving him the head from the Jetpack version. Anyway, is this set supposed to come out at the same time as the Pyramid of Darkness and Serpentor sets? I ask because I'm still waiting for my stores to get those in. Right now we only have the first two. Last edited by DrKain; 11-22-2008 at 02:50 AM.. |

Anyway, is this set supposed to come out at the same time as the Pyramid of Darkness and Serpentor sets? I ask because I'm still waiting for my stores to get those in. Right now we only have the first two. The colors are a bit too vibrant for me, but still works as a whole. I found that the M.A.S.S. Device CC is a more cobalt blue, where as this is more cyan. It's closer to the CC from the Pyramid of Darkness blue. Not sure of any others that it may work easily with, as I've tried to keep my Cobra Commander openers to a minimum. It's definitely more cyan than the M.A.S.S. CC and the new Bazooka Trooper. Hope that helps. I don't think Duke's skin tone matches the Jetpack Duke. I'll have to check tomorrow when I'm home. |
