Well then we'll just have to agree to disagree. I've been doing this for 16 years now and it gets pretty obvious when something's gonna be worth more down the road. This is not POTF2, none of those figures were rare. We are talking about a rare figure here. Name me one POTF2 figure that had only 100+ known to exist and is worth squat. It doesn't exist. This is not a regular run figure, this is still a relatively rare figure. When you drop 100 figures on the market all at once you're going to drop the price substantially. But when there was only about 10 or so known in collections prior to that point, you still only have 110 in collectors hands. That's not a lot. When regular release figures that appeared later in the line can go for 50-60 now just a couple years removed from the line, GBHD will go for more than that.
Now the only reason you can give me on that these will stay low in price is if the original seller in china was lying about being out of stock. If he has a couple hundred more of these and keeps leaking them slowly out on taobao over the years, yes the price will stay the same. But if we're only left with 100 or so of them lying around, it will go up. Bleh, I'm sure they're other reasons, it's ignorant of me to say there's only one. I just don't much go for the one's you've given, as in the past, those type of arguments failed to live up to reality. For example, just try selling blue Iron Grenadiers or a red eel on ebay now. I was picking them up for eight dollars a piece three years ago. Now you'd probably get 50 plus easy. Got in some fun arguments back then about saying those were a sound investment, and people laughing and saying the price would continue to drop given how many of them were running around. When the supply shuts off, and they disappear from ebay for a while, new collectors will enter the game. One pops up, 10 people shooting for it, the price will go up. I told him I didn't want to sell to him because I saw the feedback he's left for others and even when he gives good feedback, he makes jabs at the seller. I told him I didn't want to run into any problems with his lofty expectations. He almost brags about getting money back when he's had problems, and NOBODY just happens to have as many problems with sellers as he does. There's one common denominator, him.
He didn't respond & I took steps to cancel the transaction. He replied saying he'd leave neg. feedback. I told him that it's over and that I've made arrangements to sell it elsewhere, which I had. He BLEW UP demanding an explanation. I told him I didn't need to explain anything and said to do whatever he needs to. He FINALLY paid wednesday and I refunded him and left a note saying I already sold them and sent them, which I had, and that I told him already once. I told him to give me neg. feedback and get over it. I left feedback, but it's not nice even though it's "positive". I also blocked him. Look at feedback he's left for others, there are some neutrals for a guy with 100% feedback with over 1000 sales from whom he bought a few items, and when he was blocked by the guy he left crazy feedbacks. He's too much trouble for me to want to deal with. I pulled a total dick move, I admit it, but what he's done to others is inexcusable and it's high time he got a taste of his own medicine. I decided I needed to show him. I also seen his feedback for other seller, and its funny, just thanx to the seller when its all good, but screaming out loud when he feels that he should get a refund.. kinda person that really enjoy pointing his fingers on someone's face to blame.. |

But anyway, I'm with you on the last part. These are just toys. They aren't anything special unless we perceive them to be. But then again, so are stocks :P |

I don't collect 80's toys (plus S6) to make a profit. But I've been in the stock market for about 5 years. I've seriously collected toys for around 3 years.
Toys are a safer investment. Toys have just as good of a potential for profit as stocks. The toy market has less criminal activity than the stock market. I wish I spent every cent I put in the stock market on toys...and I've made some decent money with stocks.

Man, I wish I had read this thread sooner.
I'm going through a problem with this guy right now. I sold and sent him a near perfect vintage Starduster figure, and he's saying that it has cracked elbows. I checked, double, and even triple checked this figure, took pictures (saved them) before I sent this figure out. He emailed after he got it that he could see the cracks in the elbows before he took it out of the bag. I've been collecting GI Joes for over 25 years now. I think I know cracked elbows when I see them. He's blocked and I'm sure he's going to use Ebay's flawed rating and feedback system on me. I escalated it to a Paypal claim, to pre-empt any more douche-baggery from him.

This is why even if I have a perfect conditioned figure, I state that my figures have flaws, check pictures to see for yourself. That way no one comes back on me about conditions of figures. Yeah it might cost some in ebay sales, but i'd really not deal with the hassle of some anal retentive dude throwing a negative feedback on me because of a cracked elbow or a paint scratch.
