I've only found Model Masters at Hobby Lobby and I've had some weird luck. Some of the paints are fantastic. Some seemed like they were watered down. Kinda pissed me off.

I use mostly Citadel, and a few Vallejo. I get them at role playing game stores where they also do warhammer and other miniatures. My favorite store for paints thus far is Hastur Games & Comics, in Murray.

I read somewhere that Hasbro was going to beef up the wave 3 & 4 production due to the success of the film and the figures so far. I hope we'll get our share of Coltons and whoever else we want this time around.
Question: Do any of you customize, or do you just collect? I bought a grab bag of heads from Starwargeek (beautiful work, fast shipping, by the way), and I want to try my hand at painting them up. I've read threads about paints, and what I've got out of that is that Citadel, Testors Model Master, and Tamiya(?) are all quality paints as long as they're thinned, thin coats are made and allowed to dry before the next layer, and the figure has been thoroughly washed in hot water with soap to get rid of the casting extrusions or something like that. So my problem is that I don't know what I want, and that makes me reluctant to order online. I've checked the websites for Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn Fabrics to try to find any of those brands in a store where I can go check them out, but if my results are accurate, none of them are carrying those paints. My question is this: if you are customizing/painting in Utah, what are you using and where are you getting it? Since this has to do with sighting in Utah, it's not spam, right? Any direction would be appreciated. R. |

I passed on some JT's about a week and a half ago. Now there's nothing up north but the peg warmers. Hopefully enough kiddies are stoked about the movie to clear out all those ninjas and Roadblocks.

After using way too much time and gas and not finding what I wanted, I think I am going to go ahead and order some Model Masters from a site that seems to have reasonable prices. I know for sure that I will be buying the three Skin Tone colors. I am thinking of starting with 15 colors or less. Any suggestions for must have colors? Thanks for all the feedback. R.

I read on the tank that Hasbrotoyshop.com has them for sale as well. Also, I read on the Tank, that Hobby Lobby is now carrying Vallejo (there's a thread somewhere). I'm not much of a customizer, but I believe it's some high quality stuff so $4 isn't bad. Or get a coupon for Hobby Lobby and see if it's in there. |
