Wait, are we talking about the Dollar General figures or Retaliation? This thread's got me confused.

Lucked out on eBay and found a DG set of six for a pretty reasonable price, given that I've already wasted time and gas trying to locate a set.
Let me just say that while I'm glad that Hasbro decided to push the line into other retail stores, it's too bad they had to choose something like DG (which seems surprised that they all-of-a-sudden have some new toys).

Yeah, the DG ones are a pain to locate....The Target in Palantine has a bunch of retaliation figures. Took day off work today and headed up there and scored a Zartan, Black CC, and the Ninja 3 pack. They also had the other 3 pack with Roadblock and single carded dukes, ss, and snake eyes which I left. They had the vehicles too, but left em since not too into them. Those articulation-less figures that come with em doesn't help things either.
All in all they are pretty good, the slice figure is the tops of em all, great sculpt and articulation. The set comes with a bunch of great accessories which is good to see. Snake eyes is pretty basic but still solid and like the paint touches on him, storm shadow is probably the weakest of the three but not a bad figure either. Zartan is cool too, very sleek looking design but wish he looks more Zartan-ish, more rugged looking, this design he looks more futuristic, but still cool. And cobra commander is good too, pretty basic design and paint, and I know I am probably alone on this but I like the Cobra staff. Without the horrible blast missile thing in doesn't look half bad. The one thing I absolutely hate about the new figures are the lack of stands. I don't know why they were not included in the new line. I mean they included stands in every single packaged Joe line since the 25th line came out and now they are gone. I display all my Joes on stands and the lack of em irks me. Basically I just reused old stands that came with drivers and such and turned them around so they are backwards...not the prettiest looking but they do the job.... Found the Blue CC at KMart today. Now if I can just find the DG Snake Eyes I will be content since I lost my chance to get a Con set of OG's....

Target on Touhy finally put out the movie stuff. Of course I got there too late and all the Red Ninja were gone as well as the other troop builders. I did pick up the SE/SS/Red Ninja 3 pack. It's a great deal, for $20 it's like buy 2 get 1 free or less than $7.40 a piece after tax. The K-Mart on Elston and Foster has them out too. I scored a single Red Ninja there.
I fully realize now that I'm done collecting. With figures at almost $11 with tax I'm definitely not going to be buying like I did the ROC line. Also, with the delay of the movie and the pushback of the toyline, I wonder how much more they'll cost next year. |
