So I called TRU Schaumberg to see if they had the "Best of the 80s" pack and low and behold, they had one. So they put it on the side for me to pick up.
I drive all the way to Schaumberg on Sunday morning to pick it up only to find that the contents did not match the box. (The MASS Device figs were inside.) And they didn't have another. The kid behind the counter said this has been happening a lot. This content switching SOB not only stole from TRU and Hasbro but also me...my time and my gas. If I ever see you in store, you SOB, I'm gonna put a foot right up yer arse! |

I'm also curious, like Bill, about what this means for the rest of the classic line. Are those Wave 5 vehicles coming at all? And it looks like the single cards are going away, as well. Too bad... But the figures look great so far. Can't wait to see them all geared up!

It could've been a factory packing error. I bought a best of 80's pack the other day for a friend at the tru up in deerfield but the box was for one of the earlier sets. Defintely not a repack given the contents and everything was there just a different box.
On the other issue man the economy has some people doing some desperate things. [QUOTE=polyphenus;568205]It seems there's a scum sucker who works the Schaumburg area since I saw his identical handiwork at both the Target and TRU in that area. He even cuts out the file cards from the box and tapes back some other card entirely. I'm with you, though. If I see him in action it won't be long until he's OUT of action.

What can we do about re-packers? This is what I did after what happened to me last week.
Last week, my wife bought me the best of the 80's DVD set because she knows that I have been looking for this for quite sometime. She bought this at Target at 83rd/Kingery Highway. She bought this to surprise me. I was working that night and recieved a text message that she did get me one. I was so excited to come home early that morning to open up the box and watch the DVD. Upon reaching home, the first thing I looked for was my wife(so she can give me her gift). As she gave me the box, I suddenly noticed one big difference! Alpine was changed to the DVD pack Stalker! Duke was there but, since it was my first time to see this up close, I didn't know what the other switches were. After checking the internet for pictures, the only parts that were not tampered were just the Duke and the glider, all were changed. Though I was really sleepy from work, we went to Target to complain and have the set changed or get a refund. I told the personel that this box has been tampered already and that the contents were not the correct. They were hesitant to take it back on our first try but when we insisted to talk to the manager they did give us a refund. I told the manager not to put this back on the shelves as not to victimize other customers. I suggested that they get hold of the information they have on the person who made the last refund on the same item. They were happy to comply and said that they will put out a memo to the other Target stores regarding these kinds of customers and the person that made the refund(I call these people theives, and I call the person who victimized me sick!). FOR THE PERSON DOING THIS NEAR WOODRIDGE, IL., THEY WILL LOCK DOWN ON YOU AND ITS A SHAME TO GET INKED BECAUSE OF SWITCHING/RE-PACKING.

I agree wholeheartedly about cracking down on re-packers but some stores just don't care. I brought some comic packs to a Target uniformed security guard that had been opened to have the Doc points removed. He took them all off the shelf and assured me that they wouldn't be sold. I found all of them back on the pegs a week later. I just don't think the stores care until they realize it's actually theft. We need to keep bringing this to their attention until more stores start caring.

It's a lot of "work" (something an hourly wage slave is trying to get away with doing the least amount of) to look up who returned something, and even then all the packs have the same UPC, so if there were multiple returns, they can't know who specifically returned that modified pack.
I'm doing my part by checking the service desk at TRU as I enter and as I leave to see what is being returned. I don't even have to think about it. It's just a habit now. I won't hesitate to publicly shame anyone doing this. |
