Uh, correct me if I'm wrong but I think the MU Series 2 Jean Grey single carded variant has to do with how she is packed in the bubble. One version is packed lower than the other in the bubble. That is the only "variant" version of Jean Grey I know of. I should know I have both versions and opened one up for my loose display. I did not notice a difference in the card backing (as it should have a Series 2 Hammer cardback).
1st issue Jean Grey differs from the 2nd issue Jean Grey by hair and blue paint used on her uniform. First generation uses a hard plastic, solid red piece for the hair itself. Second generation's hair has been enlarged, uses softer plastic (now matching the plastic used for the other long hair female heads), and given shading/detailing similar to what was done for Red Phoenix Jean Grey in the CP. The blue across the entire uniform between the two versions is also different, but I'll have to dig out both to remember which was blue and which was more teal.

I will jump all over that trade since I've seen some wave 5 but not wave 6 recently. Give me a day to see if I can secure the 2. I'm fairly positive I can.

No Squirrel Girl, no Justice. Doesn't have to be the entire great Lakes Avengers... err, X-Men.. but we need Squirrel Girl.
Be careful of the Howard the Duck from the ML line. Mine ended up having black spotting all over it. Had to completely repaint him, but now he looks better than the original one.

Squirrel Girl! I honestly don't know why they haven't given us one considering she's mostly putting fur on a 25th Scarlett. ;)
I guess I didn't repaint the jacket or tie, but I know the white and skintone have been redone. Went more yellow eggshell to match old comics. Gene Colan Website: Covers - Howard the Duck
