Here is the sad thing about joe collectors unlike transformer collectors or even star wars collectors, I already assume you told your buddies where things are sighted before you post to this sighting thread. This is due to the paranoia nonsense about scalpers reading the boards.

Additionally, I firmly believe showing huge hauls can have a negative effect on those who are unable, whether from funding or finding, to reap such bounties. But, alas, the internet is always the engine of social equity it could be. I hope I have not phrased any of my comments in an inflammatory manner; I merely responded to your assertion, as I felt compelled to clarify my collecting practice. I echo your good luck in hunting to all those here. Get it while you can. Joe is in transition and it may be a long while before there is something more. And on the sightings front: I went to Alhambra TRU, Montebello TRU, and West Covina TRU after work yesterday and there was nothing of Joe or Marvel note to report. I won't even mention Target for Joes, but I did find a beat up Marvel Universe Ultron which I acquired at Target Alhambra. |

Sir, your argument operates on the assumptions that (a) most of us know each other on a "buddy" level on these boards and that (b) I contacted everyone I know to tell them there was a Retaliation wave one sighting a Rosemead Kmart. Both are in accurate in my case. I only know Jinx723, who has helped me out on at least three occasions, maybe a couple more, and who has helped people find stuff not only in this thread, but in others. I only read your postings and the debate therein associated when I came to post my FIRST Joe purchase at retail in quite some time. Because of the nature of my work, high school teacher, I can never hunt during peak hours: store openings. I have not been able to do so in 13 years, so there's no way I can hoard everything up and call my implied friends to divide up the loot. Were it not for HTS and BBTS, I would not be able to realistically collect figures. The thought that there is no such thing as a scalper when I've personally seen some of the guys who have tables at Frank and Sons coming out of toy aisles with chase figures and troops, as have others, is in need of revision. Call them what you will, and I suppose resellers for profit is a more appropriate moniker, but they exist in droves here in the greater Los Angeles area. Your point about troop builders, and I would add hoarders, is valid. Many people do build armies. I do when I can and if I found five Night Vipers, I would buy five and open them to lead my Jungle Vipers in a diorama showdown. There's no dishonesty on my part in that, nor has there been. But not all collectors are that way and there is no true data or research in this hobby to cite that would definitively indicate anything of the sort. I have theories just as you do, but to imply that your theory is the only truth and that there is a conspiratorial nature to this thread is faulty. There may be collusion on the part of several people here. I cannot know. But there is surely no overarching agreement that includes me or that I am aware of.
As for "buddies" I did not mean "buddies" in a derogatory term. The reason why people group together and help each other is in the fact that product distribution is so low for joes unlike the situation that collectors have with star wars and transformers. It makes sense to group together and is smart. Jinx is nice enough to help you and that is great and no shame on you or him for connecting. All I am saying is the rest of world outside of your friend group is not that bad. Yes we see resellers or scalpers sell product but a few bad apples should not screw it up for everyone else and that includes the sightings forum. Chula Vista and National City TRU's have a fresh stocking of WV1 RB troop builders for anyone interested. It appears as if some TRU's in other parts of SOCAL are already getting wv 3.5, SD is not reaping the rewards. Thanks for the updates Maradona.

Stopped by the Walgreens in Fountain Valley (Brookurst/Garfield) to get one of those disposable debit cards. Checked the toy section and they had a lone roadblock hanging around, so pretty much nothing.

TRU Van Nuys: Nothing worth mentioning.
TRU Porter Ranch: No new SW, MU, Joe figures. Four boxes of KRE-Os that have been picked through. Case of the 5th assortment of the Hot Wheels Retro Entertainment line. Grabbed a Colonial Viper and a DeLorean. TRU Burbank: a fellow 'Tanker' texted me that Burbank had a case of w3.5 which I was surprised with the four full pegs of w1 Snake Eyes & w2 Roadblocks they've had for a while. Kwinn, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Flint, Budo, Roadblock, Firefly and Cobra Commander were still there when I checked at 1:45pm
