I felt like a kid when I stopped by Ollies in Dundalk. I was able to get a bag of goodies for under 30 $. I also collect NASCAR Diecast.
I picked up the Sea SRO set. I did not see any of the 5 packs. As for the Rex figure, I picked up the black coated version last month but I have not seen the white coat version yet.

Single figs are $8.69 at some Targets, $7.99 at others and still $6.99 at some depending on were you go.
I havent seen any new waves since Wave 4 (PP Baroness, Rex Lewis, etc.). I want the Resolute Snake Eyes so bad I'll wait until September and buy him for damn near $9 but I'm okay with not getting that much from this line since they're just offering repaints until next year. Has anyone seen the Wal-Mart exclusives or Wave 2 Target exclusive figures yet in Maryland? |

My Target has the figures for $8.69 I think. If not I know they are at least $7.99. Doesn't matter...they haven't had anything new worth mentioning.

Wal-Mart in North East, MD, had Dr. Rex, Arctic SS, Acc. Suit Duke, and others.
Also, while there I found cards on the Joe display advertising Hisstank and TWF2005. The responsible tanker on this thread? Just thought it was neat.

If no one makes any post about any newer waves being sighted in MD then I'll save myself some gas by not looking. Am I the only MD tanker that's losing interest in collecting? Besides City Strike Snake Eyes and Scarlet (Both Resolute), I'm not too excited about scouting from Target to Wal-Mart to TRU for the figures anymore. I basically always look in the toy aisle if I happen to go to Target nowadays because of force of habit, but I only look because I'm there while shopping for other amenities. I don't see this line lasting for years on end because of the economy, price hikes, consumer frustration in getting what we want and silly cut backs that Hasbro claims they have to do to keep things affordable; like $8.69 a figure.

Let's not blame Target's price hike on Hasbro until Toys R Us and Wal-mart follow suit. You can usually get a pretty good idea of Hasbro's SRP based on what HTS is selling them for, and they're still at $7.99 there (which still isn't great, mind).

There are very few upcoming ROC figures I'm excited about. I see myself getting the Arctic Snake Eyes (looks cool enough) and the new re-painted Para Viper (passed on the 25th version) but other then that I'm not thrilled with what were getting. I'm only still hitting the stores on a semi regular basis because I work down the block from TRU so I pass it daily. Economy wise we do most our shopping (snacks, kids clothes etc) at Target and Walmart... So like you, strictly out of habit I'll walk the toy aisle. I wasn't sold on the Dragonhawk and Crimson Hydra when I spotted them. I picked them up checked them out and put them back on the shelf. I wanted to wait and read a few reviews before I decided. I figured they'd be all over the place (like the Gunship, Night Raven etc) and I could get them later on. Well, that was about three weeks ago and I HAVEN'T SEEN THEM SINCE. With the more 25th oriented vehicles coming out (Battle Bear, SNAKE, Snow Cat, MMS, Silver Mirage) those are vehicles, no question in my mind, I'll pick up no matter what. So for that reason and the fact I think most of us are starved for our beloved 25th Joes to make a return I almost feel I HAVE to stay at it. When you snooze you lose...know what I mean?

Another thing about collecting is it's becoming less fun (for me at least). Way back when (1995 or so) I got back into figure collecting when Star Wars relaunched. The original idea was to get a few figures and place them around my computer or entertainment center for the ha-ha's and giggles. Like anything in life I found myself hooked in no time. For the first time in life I was able to afford figures and vehicles I never had as a kid. I was able to replace the stuff that I lost or broke and "new" figures were being made that I could only dream about when I was young.
Soon Marvel, DC and GI Joe started producing their own lines and I hopped on board that nostalgia train too. I become a "collector" without ever intending to be. The ROC stuff has no emotional or nostalgic ties for me and I wonder why I'm even picking it up. I guess after 14 years of collecting I don't know what else to do. That's why I say it's starting to be no fun. I have more toys now then I ever had a as a kid. If I had this much stuff back then I'd have been the spoiled kid who had everything. We all probably knew somebody like that. You know, the one who usually had no friends. I feel like I've turned into that guy sometimes.

I don't know why Target would raise their prices after having a month long $6.99 sale on single figures. Maybe some odd automatic computer adjustment that surely has to fix itself eventually. I am mostly excited for the newer 2010 vehicles. That'll be awhile to happen though... |
