Damn we need a Ross. Seems like they get better stuff than Marshalls/TJ Maxx. Might not but that's my perception. I posted just to see if someone would get me a Cobra set and a Spirit and Quick Kick.

Take for example how some Ross stores only got in a couple RTS Windchargers, which Ross shoppers bitched and moaned about due to the limited availability, while our 5-Below stores got in a decent amount of them. Or how their stores got in the cancelled ROC vehicles (volcano viper), while we got them in fair numbers at Benny's and Tuesday Morning. Then again, they did get in POC vehicles like the Doom Cycle, etc, which we still haven't seen at our discount retailers, unless you like POC Mechs(TJ Maxx & Marshalls). And we DID get the 25th desert packs at Marshalls, along with all the Hall of Heroes figures. But we didn't get the invasion/defense of Cobra Island packs and I don't know if we will or will not. Hopefully we get the Resolute sets as well... I guess it all comes down to what you're looking for and what you so deeply desire to find at those wonderful discount prices. Out of all the stuff that shows up at these discount stores, (off the top of my head) I think the only thing we have to bitch and complain about are the unreleased ROC/Pre-POC vehicles that showed up at Ross. It would have been nice to find them around here, but looking back, I really didn't want any of them so I don't feel like I've missed out much so far. I will be upset if we do not get more POC stuff in our discount stores, especially items like waves 4, 5, or 6 (and for many, wave 3 (which kinda surprises me since I saw my fair share of that wave)) because there's still people here looking for figures from those waves, the mini-hiss & the ashiko bike, both HISS Tanks(brown & black), the VAMP, and the Fury. We don't know if python patrol croc master & camo blowtorch will finally appear, but considering how good they looked, I hope they do. I also wonder if like the "cancelled" tail-end ROC vehicles, the "cancelled" minotaur mech and the mech with alpine would actually show up at places like Ross? Even though they were deemed "cancelled", final release versions did get out there...So that's a whole separate mystery.

What will Hasbro's motivation be to make new Joes if we don't buy them until they hit discount stores? I have no doubt that this is part of the reason why the Slaughter's Marauders and Dreadnoks are BBTS exclusives only (with them selling them wholesale to some other places). People begged for the Resolute sets and then didn't step up to the plate to purchase them. Now we're lucky to even get these 7-packs. This is also partly why the Club is doing a subscription. Hasbro knows that mostly collectors are buying Joes. Why put them out at retail if they won't sell enough to justify it? This is also why some stuff is hard to find at retail...especially stuff after the first wave or two. Just wait until the movie comes out.

Those wonderful discount prices aren't good for the line. I know you would have bought some of this stuff had you seen it at retail, but people that wait for the discount prices are hurting the brand.

Believe me, I want to support the line at regular retail, and I would gladly pay the full retail price (I only got POC Spirit and Quick Kick on sale because TRU had them on sale the day I happen to buy them), but how can I do that when I cannot find the items there to begin with? I've really enjoyed G.I Joe again since the 25th began. We've all seen it go on life support time and again (DTC, tons of ROC at discounters, retailers not supporting POC). I'd hate to see it die again like it did in the 90's. To me, the 25th line was a flat-out total fan service, and it showed. ROC was something different and new that many did not warm up to unfortunately. POC was the pinnacle of Joe toys so far (which is why it's my favorite Joe line so far), and tried it's damned hardest to save the line (excellent sculpts, paint details, articulation, amount of accessories, usefulness of accessories, overall design using various movie, video-game, etc. influences and homages, updates to the vehicles, etc.) but I got a feeling retailers didn't give it the chance it deserved. 30th is like a 25th revival mixed with elements of POC, but you can tell due to POC's troubles in getting retailer support from a poor ROC performance, 30th suffered when it came to a sudden disappearance of extra paint details on figures and a cutback of their intended accessories. Hopefully the 2nd film will revitalize the brand and we won't have to constantly resort to alternative means of obtaining the products (online, trades, etc.) or wait for them to appear much later at some discount retailer.

40% of all Action Figures are purchased by collectors. I learned this watching Modern Marvels on toys. They detailed the GI Joe Line, the Star War line, and a few others. Including how Mr. Potato head who had the first commercial.
I got another viper and would be excited to get the Resolute. I am holding out on Benny's. They had the Wave three cancelled vehicles they can do it again. Plus they know GI Joe Sells. I've made it clear when I cleaned them out lol. However I'll be buying BBTS cause I want the seven packs. |

Wow, that's still a large amount. It's crazy to think that with 10% more we could have an even split. The way toy companies make it seem when they tell us that kids and parents outweigh the collectors in terms of sales, I always got the impression that we were only about 20-15%. Regardless of exactly what buying % we are, we must remember that the majority of toys from most companies are made and targeted towards kids, not fans, collectors, or older/adult buyers.

I don't even believe they were produced just the mock up ones that's it. Hasbro said they were going to make them but I think they shit canned them just like the Data Viper.....(grumbles about shitty zombie shit Viper)

Dang, I really wanted a camo Blowtorch. I liked him better than the yellow/red colored one.

I'd take a Cobra Set and a Quick Kick and Spirit. But if I'm the only one, the gas reimbursement could negate the savings.
