The Wal-Mart in Winter Garden I just came from had some nice variants on the pegs, someone had repackaged a POC wave 5 CC with a ROC Viper and a POC wave 5 Hawk with some army figure that wasn't even a JOE.
The packages were blatantly tapped up too...pathetic |

Went to Supercon Friday. My take:
There were a couple of people dressed up in GI Joe wear, and I did not even bother taking pictures. There were several comic book vendors, that were either selling their unsellable/non-valuables for $1 a comic book, or vintage vendors selling really old (silver/golden age) stuff. The most expensive thing I saw was a vendor that had more than a few copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 (Spider-Man first appearance) for a few thousand dollars. I couldn't believe he had not one, but a FEW copies. I thought those things were rare. I saw only one vendor selling Joe stuff (25th anniversary, no vintage) for about $10 a figure for the non-chase stuff. The most expensive stuff he had was a Snake-Eyes/Grey-Timber (not the black Timber) for $25 and a SDCC Gold Head Destro for $75. He also had some of those SDCC Cobra Commanders behind the podium, but couldn't see the price. I felt the con was dominated by cosplay/anime crap and there were many people dressed. I don't keep up with that stuff, but those Japanese themes and carrying those ridiculously huge fake swords is getting old. The weirdest thing was when I saw hordes of people going up/down an escalator. There were no signs to tell you what was up there except a sign with arrows that said "Green Room". What the hell is the Green Room? I went up. There was an area of glass-wall "suites" with rooms of people playing video games, rooms of people playing some card games, and other rooms with a people sitting in chairs listening to some people at a table with a microphone. Nobody I recognized. When I finally found the "Green Room" the glass walls were covered with white paper, a sign that said "private party" and some dude at the door asking for credentials. Whatever. The strangest thing was the "Karaoke Room" - a few tables and chairs, music playing, and a whole bunch of costumed dorks "gyrating". Not dancing, gyrating. What made the scene even worse was there was a circle that had formed and people were actually "whooping" and cheering. Well at least they were having fun. For the $5 parking, $25 entrance I paid, it was definitely not worth it.
