That's why I bit the bullet and skipped Data-Viper (as well as Ultimate Snake Eyes) - it got me low enough that I'm 99% sure customs won't pay attention.

They're at Yonge & Dundas, just north of Future Shop next to Five Guys Burgers.

What do you think qualifies as low enough to avoid customs attention? Anything under $100? Just curious, as I was NOT impressed I had to pay customs fees!

Customs charge you declared as gift when items after $60 value.
BBTS does not mark them as gifts so you will have to pay taxes + custom service fee on top. Taxing the tax.

This is the only place in Toronto that I've even seen the last 2 waves. Nice to know other Joe fans are shopping there as I really want them to keep carrying them. They told me they've got the next wave (Night-Vipers, Jinx, etc) on order as well.

It used to be $50, but the customs limits were increased about a year or so ago. Now if you're out of the country for 24 hours, you get a $100 exemption. In practice, you have to spend above $100 in order to attract attention. Now, they could still arbitrarily decide to charge you duty, but in my practice if you spend less than the 24-hour limit (originally $50, now $100), you'll be okay even on mailed packages. (This has worked for both toy and Monoprice.com purchases, FWIW.) As noted upthread, that Canadian store mentioned upthread is *slightly* better than BBTS once duties and currency conversions are figured into the equation. But $204+taxes for the full wave from SS? That's about $60 more than you'll ever have to pay for mail order, even including duties. |

Thanks for the tip! Just checked it out, and they have lots of CC, SS, SE, Budo, Flint, Firefly and Roadblock, but everything else was gone. Price was great, only $11.99 which is just a buck more than TRU retail!

Thanks for the postings guys, checked my local comic shop this morning and they had 2 cases untouched !
$15.99 each so I could only pull the trigger on 2 must haves: SS & Kwinn. The rest I'll wait on, maybe retail will get 'em...? As for Customs charges, back in 2002-04 when I was getting 5-15 packages a week from the USA It was anything "merchandise/other" valued over $20 Canadian was subject to a handling fee and taxes. Anything "gift" over $60 was also subject to those charges. I found the best way around it was to ask the seller to declare it as merchandise/other and declare value at $15 Worked every time !
