Johnson City TRU finally stocked the 30th figures today, everything except Vipers, looks like two cases. Now they'll sit there and we'll miss the next wave. Lots of MU too (Doom, Strange, Falcon, WW Hulk, and a Punisher revision case).

I know not everyone was on board with Renagades, but I think it's a shame they wouldn't push that rendition further, they may still i suppose. But it could really have been the rebirth of the franchise and much better than the movies. weekday afternoon and saturday morning franchises have much better perenial sales than the once every 2 or 3 year movie tie-ins, just look at power rangers. when the ARAH series was still in primary run, the joe section rivaled the largest hotwheels section i've ever seen. as much as half an aisle at a TRU. but look how the movie toys did, maybe a 4' section... 8' foot when the movie premiered, then dwindling down to 3 pegs with a bunch of leftovers. if they had renegades on a mainstream channel, they'd be moving toys. I enjoy the Hub, Dan Vs. is one of our favorites, but it's not yet the vehicle of sales yet to support the merchandising (other than my little pony, which seems to be doing well if you ask my 4 year old).

I agree that I wish they'd push Renegades more. I hope they bring it back, but I'm guessing not. The figures look awesome IMO. And since it was on Hub, even my daughter watched it with me (in between Jem and the Holograms and My Little Pony).

same here, mine watched it with me was well, even got my wife to sit thru some. it's a much more palletable story line and writing quality to adult audience than the ARAH days. Even though it's a pretty blatent A-Team rip off.

Heck, they could rip off the Six Million Dollar Man if they add a Joe theme/characters to it. I'd still watch.

exactly. the only thing i wasn't 100% crazy on, was the bio-vipers. i like the idea of mercenaries alittle better, but i guess you can't kill them on a kids show.

perhaps off topic to this thread, but do any of you in or around the 'boro have any resin casting experience? and would you have any interest in helping me bring a short run production of some "joe inspired" 3.75" compatible vehicles to market. I've gotten alot of interest in some of my vehicle designs, like the one in my tag here (Firebat II), and this
GIJOE SnowCat - 1 by noguice, among others. I can do all the design work and prep the engineering drawings, and even get a prototype 3d printed, but I could use some help with the prepping, casting, etc. It would be a share in the profits, and possibly the start of a 'boro based toy/collectibles company. I'm considering Kickstarter.com for funding to get the initial models up and running. Any thoughts? |

I wish I had some casting experience. I worked for Nissan at the plant in Smyrna doing paint repairs for 6 years before taking a buy-out.....but I dont think that would be much help haha.
On a findings note, today i found Cable with Baby Hope, AND an Indiana Jones Cargo Truck with the cloth top at Essex in boro. Went there to buy a vacuum and was very shocked to see those 2 guys on the shelf.
