Just talked with the department manager at the Reynoldsburg Target, according to the new planogram there will be no new Joes on the shelf. If there isn't a movie tie-in then they are not carrying the line. This blows on an entirely new level if this is a company wide decision, how does Hasbro propose to sell GI Joe if major retailers aren't carrying them. After working corporate retail I assure you that this is not the way to strengthen your brand, especially with one as iconic as GI Joe. The retail merchants are the ones who decide what will go into a product line, establish cost perimeters and determine quantity to buy (planners plug inventory by markets). Movies are built in marketing tools for retail, the fan's desires are evidently not factored in. Just another reason retail merchants in tuned with business and not with the customer, this disconnect is what irritates most.
I am so happy that GI JOE Retaliation was made (my favorite of the two). I am keeping my fingers crossed that Joe 3 happens but I just can't see Joe 4,5,6.... filmed if there is no cartoon and no toys on the shelf. There is only a couple of figures that I want to get out of W 3.5 and W 4 and I refuse to order cases online. When you can't physically look at the item you are buying that bothers me. Plus I love toy hunting and tracking down that one figure that you really want. So if Walmart is out of the Joe toyline, Target drops, here is hoping that the only 2 Toys R Us near me stock them. At least with Target there is about 12-15 stores that I could travel to and look for Joes. |

Strongsville sounds like its far away and not worth it to drive 30 plus miles to buy that Hiss tank. I'll check Targets website and see if its marked down. |

I agree with you BIG TIME BUMMER if Target as a whole and not just Reynoldsburg Target Stops carrying Joe and only will stock if there is a movie. We all know GI JOE will not be like Star Wars, nor Superman nor Batman and make new Joe movie every couple of years.

I love the chase and im like you i want to look at what im buying, but i may have to drop the ball and buy a case and take the chance since it seems that no retailers wants to stock any Joes except TRU! So is will TRU be the only dedicated Joe retailer other than online (like bbts, smalljoes and whomever else) I thought Hasbro spoke to walmart about stocking Joes? or was that some BS? |

Well hopped on HTS.com and ordered up Ultimate Roadblock and Firefly, along with Budo, Cobra Cmdr, Cyber viper ninja, and Kwinn got free shipping and use the 10% off code and paid just over $50 for all of it. Even though i wanted Night Vipers, CG's, Data Vipers and the cobra combat troopers, but all sold out and it pisses me off the HTS dont even have a email reminder assistant when out of stock items come in so we can order them.

Eastgate TRU has the new MP Soundwave and Acid Storm, both WAY out of my price range.
They also have a ton of first wave Snake Eyes and Roadblock hanging there, so I wouldn't count on seeing anything good there for a looooong time. Also, still no single Joe Kreos. Wish I'd saved my gas today

Good and bad news over the weekend:
Good news i found MP Soundwave Bad news is that the Dayton mall walmart has totally cleared out any and all they Joes in stock and the toy isle still is a mess! I stopped by there last night hoping to snag a Battle Kata RB and a Red ninja i hid, but everything is now gone!!! This walmart had alot of Joes there, most of it was wave 1 and sparsly wave 2 here and there, but now the burning question is, where does this stuff go too? Will this end up at TJ Maxx, Ross, or Ollies? or does it go back overseas some place? Hasbro really screwed themselves pushing back the movie and along with the toyline! Hasbro, i hope you can learn from this! |

You've got to keep in mind that Paramount moved the movie back, not Hasbro. I'm pretty sure the last thing Hasbro wanted was to have their product sitting in stores ready to be released, only to have the studio push it back for 9 months. Hasbro's left trying to push product for a movie that's not going to be in theaters for a long time, to retailers that are leery about carrying Joe to begin with. In the past I've gotten on Hasbro about their release schedules and case assortments, but this time I can't put the blame on them. They got hosed this time too. With no movie in theaters and no visible retailer support, I'm actually surprised we're getting waves 3.5 and 4 at all.
That being said...I sure hope they produced enough of these to go around. You are right! i keep thinking it was Hasbro! I remember it was Paramount! Man, Paramount should do something about this and make up for giving Hasbro a bad rep. |
