Okay, so we can now confirm that at both Bcreek TRUs (which I've been at during B1GET2Free sales) and now Dayton Mall they pull their stock from the shelves during these sales and them re-stock them once the sale is over.

I remember back in the 80's when Elder Beerman had a toy department. Then the "toy department" was turned into the shoe department stock room. I was so crushed as a kid. EB had good selection of MOTU, SW, Super Powers, Knight Rider etc. |

Don't get me wrong, I still like Toys R Us, just the trick with the phone system is not cool. I still dig the fact of an actual entire store (minus the babies r us side) of toys. I still miss getting to go into KB Toys. Granted they were always higher priced, but you could 9 times out of 10 walk in there and find the newest hardest to find figures. I will be very sad if they day ever comes when the last of the "toy store" closes. I think there should always be at least 1 company that is a solid "toy store" and not just a couple of toy aisles.

KB was really good and if it wasnt for KB alot of the toys of my childhood wouldnt be around, KB keep alive alot of the toys line that most dept store wouldnt carry through the 80's and 90's like starwars, MOTU, Transformers and so on. I too was sadden that KB's went out of business and couldnt keep up with the big leagues and EB oh hell yeah, i remember their toy dept very well, i remember my mom getting me Transformer Sixshot and Galvatron from the bargin bin and i still have them today and in mint condition. |

It was my best friends b-day and we were and still are wrestling fans. His rents made him a HH bday cake and he got like 6-7 WWF LJN. I remeber leaving his party and begging my parents for a HH LJN. So we stopped by EB on the way home and I was able to get one. Ahhh the memories Also what is cool about remembering that story is look at how cool the 80's were. Hulk Hogan was HUUUGGEEE in the 80's. That was HH 1st figure. Yet we were able to walk into a EB store and get one off the shelf. Not driving all over the city looking for one. I again miss the days of wanting and item and being able to go to the store and buy it off the shelf. |

I think Centerville is tearing down the old Elder Beermans for a new Kroger Market Place :( This could be a good thing because the KMP in Middletown had a gigantic toy section. It was 3 aisles back in the summer. 1 aisle (long aisle) of board games, 1 aisle of girls toys and 1 aisle of action figures.

Good times. Which EB did you and your family go to? I used to go to Fairborn and Kettering. I remember the Kettering EB was really cool because it was 2 stories. You would take an escalator down to the basement and as soon as you walked off and turned to the left...BAM! the Toy Deparment was right in front of you. The only toy I remember getting from that EB store was a Hulk Hogan LJN.
I remember getting Starwars, MOTU,Transformers and Joe (more Joe and Transformers than anything really) alot from that store and back then!! GOD what good days i had as a kid i always flashback to those days. I cant wait to have a son of my own and tell him about this stuff and share my toys with him when he becomes of age. Good times man. |
