so, i've collected GI Joes most of my life, but stupidly i sold them when i fell on hard times in college. so recently i began collecting them again, as well as customizing guys, but since they're no longer available, prices are way up there. i understand the GI Joe collectors club still produces the 12 inch, but they don't make vs. cobra action figures anymore, and because they are not a big company, prices are really high, imo.. i guess what i'm wondering is how can i find GI Joe vs cobra guys at a reasonable price? i always search yard sales, and even pick up the 3 inch guys, for possible trade.. is this the cheapest/best way?... do you guys think there is enough of those Joes floating around to get a decent collection? right now i'm looking for hall of fame, GI Joe vs cobra, spy troops, valor vs. venom or rise of cobra figures... i would also like to start collecting sigma 6... i do have a pretty decent collection now, but i broke down and bought a few new on ebay...

I feel the 12 inch are pretty easy to find still. Don't pay too much, I dont think there is much of a demand. They released 12 inch Joes in 2011 for the 30th line. Just recently it was said to be the weakest seller.
I have always wanted to pick up the Hall of Fame and then the Street Fighter 2 12 inch figures that I still see at flea markets and so on.

yeah, honestly with the hall of fame guys, i usually put their head unto a newer body, cause i like the flexible bodies better... i do have some cool Joes, like the original 12 inch Sargent savage, on a newer body with flocked hair. i'm really looking for the bad guys like major bludd, dr mindbender, or baroness... with bad guys i only have destro, cobra, stormshadow and a custom nightcreeper i made... i was also thinking of trying to trade- i got some rise of cobra 3 inch guys and i have the old 1992 Luke skywalker, as well as a Hasbro international figure with plastic tags and, a native American action man i never saw before... i was thinking of selling or trading those to help build my gi joe vs cobra collection

Hasbro isn't the only one to suffer.....the company that produced Caption Action also announced they were stopping their 1/6 offerings.
I collect 1/6 scale and there is just so many things that have went wrong in the market over the last few years. Back in 1999 Joe was in top form, bringing out new adventure team sets, timeless, masterpiece and others, then it all just has fell apart since costs have risen. It's a shame too, Now the only 1/6 collectables that are new come from the club......And another place you might want to look in your search is cotsworld.
