My only serious complaint is that SS can't seem to space out the releases. We seem to get about three around the Christmas time frame and maybe one more throughout the year.
I have been buying them for several years, first picking and choosing then later filling in the gaps through trades and eBay. Each figure has their pro's and cons. Value wise, none have really lost value, even opened. I wish we had more insight into what SS were doing in the design phase and release dates seem later and later from when a pre-order is available. Gosh, Baroness, I think was over a year from pre-order to delivery. Their hints at SDCC two years ago led us to believe Snow Job was in development, have not heard anything since then and wondered how they picked him over fan requests for Scarlett using the Baroness body or ARAH Roadblock despite the Rock's movie accurate version from Hot Toys. I have passed on the Storm Shadow v2, my first pass in years. Destro is on pre-order. I told my wife, we will sell them off in a few years since I am slowing down the collecting and reducing volume of boxes in closets and storage. I think my favorites are the newest Cobra Commander and Rock-n-Roll.

My advice is to manage the budget: unless you have a lot of discretionary income, these figures can make you poor: they are worth every penny, however.
I only buy Cobra figures, and would make an exception for any female joes, oktobr guard, and shipwreck. I would also love to see a UK TF Outback, Slaughter's Renegades, and lets not forget Cross Country. and then there's.... SEE WHAT I MEAN????

I like what cardensb has to say (just above my previous post). Pick and choose. I can't see getting rid of mine, because they are the convergence of the 12" line I played with as a kid - AT - and the new mythos. If anything, i will keep them over everything prior to 2009.

I just purchased my first Sideshow figure, the V2 Storm Shadow and I used the payment plan. It all went very smooth and the figure showed up today. It is a fantastic figure and I am very impressed with the figure.

Well, I'm resurrecting an old thread, because I started this thread originally for one. And second, there doesn't seem to be too much posting on these boards with the most likely death of the line.
So to update, I got most of the Sideshow figures I want. So far I'm missing: 1. Destro 2. Cobra trooper 3. Cobra Officer 4. Cobra Sniper 5. Desert trooper 6. Duke 7. General Hawk I'm mostly a Cobra guy, but it would be nice to pick up at least the iconic leaders. I wouldn't mind picking up Firefly and BeachHead. But, there's no way I'll pay over $300 for them so I can live without them. I'm really sad to see the line go. I only recently decided to go in when enough of my favorite Cobras were either released or announced. And that was only at the beginning of the year. I was really hoping for a re do of version 1 Storm Shadow as the V2 I just got was really technically when Stormy was a Joe. I'm really disappointed end the line is going away. Has everyone got all of the figures they want? Are there any they would have liked to see released? And does anyone have the figures I'm looking missing for sale? I need Flint and Duke and I'll be complete with what I have. I would say get the Dictator CC and Baroness on the Cobra side.

If by Dictator Cobra Commander you mean the new one, that's the very first figure I picked up. And, I do have the Baroness also. Absolutely love these figures. No room to display yet, but hopefully soon.

Started off with the desert officer in 2012 then waited until snake eyes and timber were released and then went nuts. Baroness and Flint get here tomorrow and #13 should be here Friday. Really want to add these to my collection:
1. Zartan 2. Firefly 3. Cobra Trooper (blue) 4. Destro 5. Beach Head Would love it if SS ever revisits the line to see: 1. Scarlett 2. B.A.T. 3. Snow Serpent 4. Leatherneck But I think that's just a pipe dream now. |
