SoCal tankers, anyone remember seeing the 87 movie on Channel 5

When the 87 movie came out, Channel 5 showed it on their Family Film Festival show one sat night the yr it came out, it was hosted by the guy hosting the Popeye cartoons sun morning, Tom Hatten.

Yes! Not only do I remember it airing on KTLA, but my grandmother taped it, and the Operation Dragon Fire movie that ran on KCAL channel 9. Still have them too.

I used to have Operation Dragonfire on tape from the KTLA guy one saturday.

watching the movie gave me nightmares that night, i was only 7.

Yup. I remember watching the 87 movie premiere on channel 5 in L.A.
Even now I still get choke up with that awesome opening sequence.
" Crashing through the sky..."

Not only do I remember it, I have it on DVD. Got it through Suncoast Videos.

And it rocks.

Since i started this thread, Im wondering WHY to this day they picked to show the 87 movie knowing how crappy it is to some of us.
