Yeah it was not his finest moment. Although O feel like Snake Eyes and Duke were captured and awful lot.
Yup. Stormie destroyed a tank in the episode "Countdown for Zartan" as he was demonstrating for some Cobra trainees. "Anybody can use a weapon...but a ninja IS a weapon". It's a quote I still paraphrase, today

Snake-Eyes and Duke had a respectful dynamic between them that was unique to the cartoon (at least the first two 5-parters and the episodes that were produced early). In episodes like "Jungle Trap", Duke relies on Snake-Eyes to get the job done. Yet, in the grand scheme of things, Snake-Eyes wasn't used much in the cartoon.

I don't think I have heard of the potential "World's Most Dangerous Man" plot concept. Makes me wonder if, perhaps, Mercer was discussed in that.

I like to think Storm Shadow had a moment of clarity, realizing that in this existence (sunbow) he is more like a ninja wannabe, so he decided to disappear until his next appearance (DIC) only to regret it horribly...

Storm Shadow shows up in that Buzz Dixon digital ebook "The Most Dangerous Man in the World".

In fact, you could make a case that Buzz Dixon is the creator of ARAH Sunbow Canon and therefore you could probably ignore all the Movie events in your "head canon".

Wasn’t Storm Shadow dead in the comics at that time? Eaten by sharks while he and Snake Eyes were fighting their way off of Cobra Island, then Mindbender used some of his dna in Serpentor? Of course the cartoon didn’t follow the comics but maybe it was just considered that he was dead so leave it at that?

Storm Shadow was shot and killed by the Baroness on the beach of Cobra Island in issue 47. His corpse was the 11th "bonus" corpse that was added to create Serpentor in issue 49. In issue 50, Storm Shadow crawls out of a vat and returns to life. So he was dead for maybe 2 months, real-time.

In issue 51 and 52, he sneaks into the pit to visit the Joes, shows them he's alive and needs time to "spiritually heal"> A sub-plot was that Stormie also had the same memories of Serpentor in his head (all the dead conquerors n' stuff)... but this was quickly dropped and rarely (maybe even never) mentioned again.

Real-world timeline of this was roughly the first half of 1986. GI Joe: The Movie came out in the second half of 1987. So it's possible that The Movie was in production at the time. Since Storm Shadow's status was still kinda' up in the air in the comics (is he a good guy? Is he a bad guy? Is he tied to Serpentor?), this may have been one reason he was left out of any on-screen plans.

More importantly, "The Movie" included guys from the Sixth Wave of GI Joe toys-- Lt. Falcon, Jinx, etc. Storm Shadow's figure was out-of-production at this time. His second figure didn't come out until 1988. Let's face it: the cartoons were there to sell toys. Which also explains why guys like Scrap-Iron, Major Bludd, Torpedo, Gung Ho, Flint, etc didn't have much (if any) significance in The Movie. Even cartoon favorite Shipwreck-- who was a BIG part of the cartoon continuity--- was just a "face in the crowd" in The Movie.

It’s funny, I couldn’t remember exactly that outcome in 47 when I posted but reading your post a I could visualize the damned comic panels as I read your words. Memory is a funny thing. Thanks for the refresher.

Yeah the movie was there to push the current wave of toys no doubt. Many of the staple fan favorites had cameos at best.
