What being shot in the back isn't proof enough? I'm pretty sure Zartan is dead.

-Major Bludd, and Bazooka were well done, created suspense, and anxiety.
-I didn't like Storm Shadow getting killed by SE... thought it would have been more interesting, and surprising the other way around.
-I didn't like that Roadblock, and Gung-Ho survived that explosion, or how easily captured Destro, and the Baroness were. Destro, or the Baroness should have been killed, and one or the other captured by Stalker, and Beachhead.
-I didn't like Zartan getting killed, but would have accepted it as a surprise death, had it not been biased by Duke, and Scarlett surviving.
-Cobra Commander should only have laughed and shook his head after the the device was realigned. I'm certain he's not dead, would have been neat for them to find the pod fully intact, and still inaccessibly sealed, but without him in it.
GIJOE: Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity; a NATO special forces team of ignorant troops who believe they're fighting for freedom, led by a General fully engorged within the military industrial complex.
Cobra: has been spin-doctored in the media and portrayed as a totalitarian terrorist organization when in truth they're an anarcho-collective co-operative corporate-military based on meritocracy, and funded by developing nations to combat Western Imperialism.

Look at it this way: If they decide at some point to continue the Resolute-verse, they can just kick up the Firefly/Snake-Eyes rivalry instead of the Storm-Shadow/Snake-Eyes rivalry.

I wish Storm Shadow would have survived. I think it is likely Zartan could return. I wish they would have killed duke. The only take on Duke I have ever liked was the comic. I can't stand him in any of the animations. I haven't ever liked him.
I agree Bazooka and Bludd made perfect sense. Although if Resolute continues it would have been nice to see what kind of sadistic and twisted stories they could have used Major Bludd in. Plus the power struggle between Bludd, Destro and Cobra Commander always made for good story lines.

I guess it depends on what RES truly is, and of course Hasbro's non-action to state anything about the show is where all the speculation comes from.
If RES is a one shot that changes everything. Ellis might have been asked to (I'm sure someone on here knows the ins and out of the whole deal that went down between Ellis and Hasbro) come up with something for an hour long show and not a continuing series. If this was the case then it makes perfect sense that he would make certain characters die to make it epic.
I'm still not sure Zartan is dead and until they show the body (hell even in comic books that doesn't mean they are dead) he could have escaped. Same goes for Cobra Commander as I felt absent was the writers way to leave some mystery at the end of the show and also leave the door wide open for future installments.
If RES was not designed this way, I might be a little upset that SS and Major Bludd are dead (again not knowing for sure what happened to some of the others) because they are two of my fave's.
Also, I think RES might have been written as a future-esque story. One that if they bring the series back might play out as an end movie.
Then they just go back in time to show us the events that led up to RES. It would be perfect because they could bring back all the characters, and all the dialogue in RES could be further fleshed out. SS's comments to Snake Eyes. CC's speach to his troops about how he used to lead Cobra. The decommission of Cobra Island.
Lastly, they could continue to make it impactful because they would have a lot of Joes or Cobra's that weren't shown at all in RES that could die. Alpine, Airtight, Hawk, Crimson Twins, Scrap Iron, the list goes on and on and they could all be shown fighting and losing their lives eventually.
I for one am excited to see what happens and the only thing I wil be irritated with is if Hasbro doesn't green light more episodes.

The truth for me was very frustrating that Bazzoka dies, he is an icon in the saga, I think the death of he was more epic and had to be in combat.
The deaths of Storm Shadow and Zartan mmm well the characters are very complex and very important in the story they kill is a cut off the story, but the deaths aport good content they gave the story,to be very honest Zartan deserved to die
Major Bluud, he also received the death glorious epic and not appear as a vulgar beggar died
this is my humble opinion
A REAL AMERICAN HERO, YOO JOOEE!

The whole thing was a well drawn f'up now that I look into it more and more. It was like someone was playing out an episode on the bedroom floor when they were 10 years old. At the end of the hour you set up the figures and played another round of kill your guys off. Rinse and repeat. It was cool and the animation was decent, but at the end of the day is was just some retards idea of what he thought was a great story. The story was a freaking joke. The characters voices sucked, and I refuse to delve into this one shot like it means a damn thing. There was no deep seeded meaning to any part. It was just a cartoon.
I think I will post this in the other 999 Resolute threads and be done with it!

For anyone interested, here is a blog Warren Ellis (the writer of Resolute) wrote on the subject last year: Warren Ellis GI JOE: RESOLUTE
Also on the front page of his site he has links to the episodes and a small blurb on a few of them.
