Not only did COBRA Commander slaughter the troopers in the control room, either in a rage or just to horrify whoever found him, he painted COBRA symbols in their blood on the windows. I didn't see that watching the episode on YouTube.

I picked up on that, too - I was like "is that a Cobra symbol in blood on the glass??"
I don't think I like this interpretation of Cobra Commander so much. He's murdering everyone, cursing at people, can't open doors... Tsk tsk
PS - Does anyone remember there was some information or interview that revealed at one point Cobra Commander was going to kill a seal to emphasise how cruel he was? I forgot where I read it, but it was clear as day that they had that scene in mind for him.

Cobra Commander = favorite new cobra ....until he got locked into his pod. Even though he possibly escaped. I really hope it goes on-new recruits could be firefly, scrap iron, etc

I loved the take on all the characters except Stormy. With the Hama background Stormy, it was perfect. I've never been in the army, or the military, but my dad was, and he was friends with fellow soldiers up til the end, no matter what. So to me, that's what it should have been.
CC: ...Woof... That's a CC who COULD have ruled the world.
Duke and Scarlett: While I prefer my redheads with the silent type, it worked. Both characters were hardcore to their natures. Well done.
I'm glad they didn't focus TOO much on the characters from the 80's series. Some, just enough to give us a fond, "remember me!" Shipwreck taking off his hat was perfect. LJ and CG...just enough screen time to make us actually want more.
And Roadblock? FINALLY...no silly rhyming! I finally like the character!
All said and done, a great week, and an AWSOME hour. Major props to Warren Ellis. I was afraid he was going to go kill-crazy in the finaly

I noticed right away. He's a bit off, are we sure he wasn't really Fred VII?
I didn't care much for the Duke Scarlett thing. It WAS a bit of an anti-climax, could have used a few more deaths. The early deaths were almost a cheap stunt to make us THINK more characters were going to bite it. But I'm guessing they wanted to keep the door open for a sequel or a series.
Only three real deaths and two of those were in the first five minutes. Storm Shadow was the only serious loss if this becomes an ongoing thing. Yeah, I don't list Zartan. there are probably a dozen different ways you can come up with for having Zartan survive the gunshot and the blast. He has 6 good minutes to either limp or be carried into a bomb shelter (it IS a Russian missile base, they could easily say they had one) or a plane.

Storm Shadow however, would be VERY hard to write back in without it being cheesy. The more realistic Resolute is, the better, so you'd need a way to brign him back without "Ninja magic"
I don't think you can do it.
