Do they fit in the Skystriker?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if the new 25th Anniversary figures can be made to fit in the vintage Skystriker. I'm excited about the new Ace figure and am hoping he'll fit in his old ride, but if not, he'll display just as nicely standing beside it.

I'm also curious about other vehicles. I've seen the 25th figures put into the old Vamp and AWE Striker and I don't think they look that bad in there. How about the Dragonfly, SHARC or Tomahawk?

the more vintage vehicles i posed my 25th figures in the more i realized the vintage vehicles are just too small scale now for the 25th line. i have not tried the striker yet though. 1:18 vehicles seem to be a better proportional fit.

does anyone have the dragonfly to compare to the bbi apache or 21st cobra?

i would certainly like to see nice pictures of ace and his old ride be sure to post some when you get the chance.

Don't have the Dragonfly anymore (Hated that vehicle for how easily it broke) But I can say that Beachhead and Stalker (With wide crotches) fit into the bbi Apache perfectly!

The skystriker might need a little modification (Back peg removed, maybe the seat moved back)

I don't think it'll be wide enough to accomodate the figures.

BBE apache against the dragonfly is almost like FOV Abrams vs Mobat. Vintage ARAH vehicles tended to be just big enough - probably a factor in cost and playability for the core consumer crowd - primarily us 20-25 years ago, when we had smaller hands and budgets.

I expect Hasbro will release new vehicles primarily using retooled old molds. The problem with that is that the vehicles may wind up being a little small relative to the new figure format. Hopefully they will pick ones that work reasonably well... I would be surprised if Skystriker or Dragonfly make that cut (although they are releasing Wild Bill and Ace and it would be nice to have official Hasbro rides for them).

Getting off topic, I just wonder where this line will go - I expect it will appeal to us collectors more than the current 8-12 year olds. I know back then I would have lost every cobra troopers knife and most sidearms in little time. Will Hasbro move to a more playable rather than displayable line as the movie comes out?

if it follows a similar path as transformers than i would say yes. the movie toys replaced the highly detailed altenators and re-releases with tiny accessories. i would get all the 25th line stuff you can while you can. the only hope that the line continues albeit under a new movie related banner, would be if they kept the same figure size.

this is all speculation and opinion on my part. i personally would LOVE to get a new skystriker as i never came close to getting one as a kid.

I believe they fit in all HISS tanks except 1 and 3 (same mold). I keep the old HISS drivers around as "HISS Jockeys" for V1 and 3, the 25A figures can stand well in the turrets. Too bad all those Stinger drivers don't fit in the Stinger unless the top is down or the driver straddles the seats (darn diaper crotch). I dremelled a crotch fix and cut out some "flintstone" style brakes on a Stinger and now he fits in the driver's seat. .

I wouldn't be surprised if a classic anniversary or RAH themed line continued alongside the movie line. They would share figure sizes but have totally different vehicles. Look at how many series Star Wars figures have within the same scale, as well as Transformers, so its not outside the realm of possibility. I think it will all depend on if the anniversary stuff still sells well by the end of this year.

I did try putting some anniversary figures in my Night Boomer a month ago. I don't have seats, but I think the figures with the fixed crotch should be able to fit with no problem, its just a matter of shaving off the backpack peg on the seat.

I'd love to see a new skystriker too, so long as it is based on the Tomcat. Hell, take out the gear/wing connection, and let the wings swing seperately from the landing gear, that will save money! Besides that was the one thing many of us didn't like about the original. I wanted to be able to sweep the wings all the way forward without the landing gear going down!

I'm hoping for a thunder machine. I think the was the coolest ride ever just because of the trans am front end. Considering they are making the dreadnoks early, that thrasher and monkeywrench aren't far behind, driving the thunder machine
