I just read on another thread about the relative ease of stealing the Doc Mail away forms from the Comic Pack. I didnt even think about this.....the first thing my brother and I did tonight after reading the thread was inspect the packages from the few comic packs we bought the other day. Luckily, ours were fine.
Is this kinda stealing and swapping (5 packs) new to the GIJOE community? Did it happen back in the day with the fridge mail away, sgt slaughter, flag points, etc? Ive seen vintage cut packages on ebay but I always figured it was the original owner who cut stuff out....not purchased that way.
Who do you think is doing the stealing? Collectors or Scalpers? Both? Just curious on peoples thoughts... Sam

It's a shitty thing to even do and it's a petty crime as well (stealing or vandalism, take your pick). I will definitely check mine before buying, but I plan on getting most of mine online anyways so it may not be that big of a problem for me, personally. |

There's almost a routine of a taped-up Star Wars figure or G.I. Joe with one tiny accessory missing.
The worst I've seen was an entire 25th box set with all the figures missing. But there was clear tape sealing the cover down to make it look legit.
But eventually I'd like to think that people working returns would realize that the comic packs are being returned frequently. |

It's a bit of a concern for us now seeing as the comic packages have the bubble sealed to the card at the top and bottom, but the sides are only held on with tape. I really think Hasbro should have packaged these like how Toybiz packaged the Marvel Legends toys. The only way you were getting into those was by destroying the package |

Exactly! But I still think it sucks for people to have to resort to buying online if they can't find something that hasn't been tampered with in stores. BTW, I collected the VOTC SW figures in '06 and never had a problem so it might not be as bad as it seems. |

Stealing is bad kiddies! |

Someone had cut open the plastic covers of the sections for the Cobra Trooper, Air Trooper and Stinger Driver of the Cobra Legions 5 pack and stolen just those three figures. So I showed the box to someone working there. |
