Jeaux Report: FireFly

as i enjoy this "second coming" of GI JOE i am posting an "opinionated review" of each figure...this is "The Jeaux Report"

sorry joes....this ones late too.....had to go to Dallas last weekend to be in a wedding.....looong weekend, but worth the trip.

tonights jeaux report is of my favorite saboteur to date....FIREFLY!

let me get this out of the way right now...Firefly was my favorite figure as a kid...period.

the detailed ribbing on the fabric is great. and despite his colors being lighter than the original i still really like it.
love the camo . great head sculpt. the head covering comes across as if it were a solid piece rather than completely
fabric like beachhead.. almost looks like some kind of lightweight armour.
what little facial features he has were perfectly painted....lucky too, at the time he was the ONLY fly on the peg.
joints are fine as demonstrated by the dynamic pose hes managed to maintain.
weapon is straight and sturdy.
the backpack looks great with nice detail and a long enough peg. the removable panel is a nice touch.
love the detail on the bandolier.
im really glad firefly was at the top of the list for the 25th line.

is it all roses though? never is...

colors too light......there i said it, but as i stated up above, im not really bothered by it. if it gets corrected later, would i buy another? yes. if it
doesnt get corrected...thats cool too.
why did the gun change? the folding stock is a nice touch, but i cannot keep it straight back in any pose i tried...i removed it. really miss that vicious looking gun the original had.
that bandolier fits a tad tight to his neck. somewhat restrains his movement.
there is a small mar in the paint on the right side of his chin....i thougth it was part of the camo until i looked closely...but the eyes and brows were perfect, so
the mar was inconsequential. well, maybe not...ive since painted over it with a grey that matched wonderfully.

so, on the 1-5 Yo Jeaux! scale...

firefly gets a 24yr or so biased....... 5/5

Repainted mine to reflect the originals artwork (much darker gray with black camouflage).

Here are some of my Firefly pics. I also detailed his backpack to match the artwork. Sorry for the quality, the originals were really big files (5-10 MB), but I had to compress them a lot to be able to upload them onto here.

Nice review. Sorry for the slight Necro post. Just found Firefly this evening. Best figure in the line, IMHO.

His Pistol doesn't fit into his holder very well. I gave up and assumed it didn't fit, until I got Beachhead, who is the same body mold, and who comes with the pistol already in the holder, I then realized that the muzzle rests all the way in the back of the holder, not the front. So now Firefly is all set.

Too bad his hidden compartment on his backpack, doesn't hold the phone. That would be a neat plus.

One small gripe : the middle portions of his shoulders and his ankles are not painted (especially the ankle joint) and stand out a little too much.
