Th@nk hasbro!

Seriously, they make some great toys.

They can't do everything for everybody, but they sure seem to be going out of their way to make some cool toys.

They could have put ZERO effort, art, and technology in to these 25ths and they still would have sold just fine based on nostalgia and 80s fever.

But they didn't. They went ahead and took some pride in their creations and stepped up to the challenge.

I, for one, really appreciate it. I love finding a new figure. I love opening those packages and exploring the details of my new toy. All the imgination and drama at 10 year old me left in there....it really makes me sincerely happy.

I would actually pay more for them than I usually do.....but that is the other cool thing. Although these things were clearly originated for adult collectors, they are priced and build so that could actually be bought for a child to play with.

There are some that I don't like, and there are some that I would REALLY like....but in general....

Thank you, Hasbro.

Josh

80's fever occurred early in the decade, and Hasbro failed to capitalize on it with Joe by releasing the new sculpt lines. these figures are selling well solely because of nostalgia - retro packaging and character designs.

Nostalgia is the same thing as 80s fever. It seems to have peaked a few years ago....but it is still out there.

Watch an episode of Family Guy, or look at the retro t-shirts they sell these days. Hasbro may have missed the full gravy train, but there are still plenty of retro-bucks to go around.

I am saying,m they don't NEED obssessive, detail crazed, collectors like us to make a boatload of cash....but they still do things for us anyway.

I think that is pretty cool.

Josh

And why shouldn't they? It's a cash-cow for Hasbro.

I think they are doing a bang up job myself. I hadn't bought a joe since 87-88. I almost caved a couple times for certain figures. I may have bought them even without the retro packaging. The figures have been represented very well. (yes, whine whine bitch bitch cant hold weapons etc...) I think the only figure that I have been disappointed with is the Baroness. But not too disappointed. Hell I even bought the Tiger Force Flint and Python Patrol Officer (I never thought I'd do that... ever. Ever)

My hat is off to them for what they have managed to pull off in the past 15 months or so.

I disagree. 80's fever would be a widespread interest in all things 80's, and I don't see t-shirts with their sleeves cut off, feathered hair and Prince being applauded.

nostalgia is something very direct, and in this case it is nostalgia directed for G.I. Joe. big difference between the two.
