Stiff joints on 25th anniversary figures

The Cobra Commander I got in the Cobra box set has an elbow that does not want to bend (it will swivel). I was able to straighten the from the bent elbow position in the box, but it feels like it might break if I put any more pressure to bend it than I have already.

The ankle joints (which look similar) are also very stiff. Can anyone give me some tips on fixing these joints?

These are new toys, they'll be sticky. Sometimes it's the paint, if you're really worried about it, I've heard that you can stick the figures in the freezer (This stiffens up the plastic) then move the joints to break the seal.

I just go slowly and make sure I'm focusing all the pressure on the joint and not other parts

i just got the funniest mental image of Cobra Commander's foot breaking off and the figure screaming the line straight from transformers the movie (animated) during the battle of autobot city...

Starscream: "AAAAHHHHH MY FOOT!"

yeah just like shogi said, the paint sticks the joints together. with a really firm grip, just turn slowly until it breaks free of the dried paint. i only had a couple figs do this form my 5 packs. mostly it was hands?

Put my Cobra Commander fig in the fridge and left him in there over 24 hours. When I took him out the elbow still doesn't want to bend.

Now it looks like I'll have to get another box set, switch out the Cobra Commander figs, then return it. I'll just tell the store there are parts missing so hopefully it won't go back on the shelf.

Don't panic. It will bend.

It took about 10-20 minutes to work the elbow on Buzzer. Tore the arm out of its socket in the process. :(

But it all got fixed and he looks great in the end. :p

My Buzzer and Cobra Legions Cobra Commander also gave me a lot of problems with their arm joints. I did get both to work though. It sounds lame, but for both of them I wasn't sure which way the joint bended, especially after moving the wrist piece around.

What about soaking the fig in really hot water for a little bit?
