You know, this really irks me. What right do you have to rip into someone and bring them to tears? Regardless of what they may have done, you could have explained it to them without acting this way. Some people refuse to see the world outside of their own. MOST people DON'T collect toys to leave them in an unbent package - MOST people don't even understand the concept of MIP or MOC. MOST people who work in retail, have to put up with insensitive yobs all day long - but it still doesn't make it any easier to get torn into over something as inconsequential as a bent card. If it means so much to you - then ask them to be careful with them BEFORE they manhandle your merchandise.

I mean, come on - have you ever had to work retail? Have you ever had to deal with that kind of behavior, knowing if you stand up for yourself, you could lose your job, because "the customer is always right?" It's demeaning for any human being to treat another like that. Maybe, next time, the hapless little cashier you rip into, might just snap, and give a little something back...

I'm quoting because I HAVE worked retail, I worked at Walmart of all places and in this little podunk town I live in, Walmart is basically the ONLY option for shopping outside of a couple extra grocery stores. And I have been yelled at by customers for some of the stupidist shit in the world.
And there is no reason to leave a girl in tears over a fucking action figure.

I've long been of the opinion that if a collector REALLY wants mint toys THAT badly, you will NEVER get them at retail. The stockers don't care about the product, they stock HUNDREDS of things every night. The cashiers don't care, they scan THOUSANDS of items a day. Even as a collector, as a courteous and polite cashier (I actually had "regulars" who would seek me out to check out their merch because they knew I'd be careful, intelligent, yet still prompt), you can only be SO careful with products when you have 10 people in line who are ready to pay and leave.

If you REALLY want MOC toys that bad, suck it up and order online from Entertainment Earth or BBTS where they cater to such things. You will not find such service at a big box retailer.

I can see both points. I have worked retail most of my professional working career. The only time I have lashed out to a cashier is when she or he would make a snob/hateful comment about a grown man buying a toy and bend/crush my item while ringing it up. This has happened. I tore into the cashier and then I tore into the manager. The cashier was in tears and I did feel bad. If that would have happened in my store that cashier would have been terminated. No one deserves to be treated in this manor. I did apologize to the cashier but I also made a point to tell her that type of behavior was not cool on both ends. That is why I now ask them to be careful or just scan my own stuff. I hate being a prick because I know what it is like on the other side. Some people bring out the worst in you.

I agree - true MOC collectors usually never buy from retail, for the precise reason of the abuse that merchandise goes through in shipping. Working at Lowe's, unloading freight was dangerous as hell - there'd always be pallets of tile stacked on top of lightbulbs (or what had been lightbulbs at one point), and sledge hammers or whatnot stashed up top where it comes crashing down on your head. Albeit, TRU doesn't have too much heavy freight (I worked there too, as an assembler and freight unloader), but there is so much crap that gets destroyed. As long as the figure is complete and unharmed, I could care less.

I find it amusing how some collectors call themselves "true" collectors. So most of those who hunt aren't true or real collectors??? I disagree.
