Figure breakages/fixes guide and FAQ

Alright folks, some of us have experienced breakages on our beloved anniversary figures. While some are damaged beyond repair, most can be repaired somehow.

This thread is meant to be used as a guide for repairing broken anniversary figures, and for common questions relating to repairs.

Please post breakages here, and help each other out by posting fixes! Hopefully with pictures.

Today my wave 8 Baroness broke on account of a stuck knee joint. The thigh pieces may have not been trimmed where the knee socket is. It was a clean break with the peg breaking off. Repair would consist of unscrewing the thigh pieces on the right leg, removing the knee peg, gluing it back on the knee joint, trimming the excess flash, and after drying, putting the leg back together. Its a hassle, I have not had many breakages on these figures but its annoying when it happens.

My son hasn't had any real breakage problems. We have a Gung Ho with a loose right and left knee joint. He want even stand up when placed on his stand. How have you guys fixed that problem?

Oh, also have a scarred officer withthe same problem....crazy legs.

I noticed many Joes have really tight joints...so I always make sure I bend all the joints once right after the package.

My figures have a problem with melting after being set afire...

Actually, I snapped the head off of a Snake Eyes once trying to pop his head off. Indeed, it did come off, but I imagine the little ball neck thingy shoulda stayed on the neck...

I believe I put too much pressure on the chin area when I was trying to get it off, so that it just broke the ball joint clean off inside his head.

I also had a stuck foot on my roadblock, it ended up snapping on me (which worked out, because he then donated his left hand to a fellow Tanker)

Now Im a bit more careful with them, (and I dont set them on fire anymore...)

Crazy legs syndrome can be fixed quickly and simply.
All you need is some super glue, and a screw driver.

Unscrew the thigh, take apart the leg and apply some super glue into the ball socket area and on the ball socket itself. Wait a couple of seconds. then put the leg back on wait a few secs and work the leg around so the glue instead of sticking parts together builds up, effectivly addint another "layer" so the joint fits tighter.

This works on original joes with loose knees, elbows, heads and legs.

MAKE SURE YOU NEVER JUST LET THE JOINT SIT THERE WHILE GLUE DRIES OR YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Crimson Guard that came with Scarface had a right arm that would not move at the shoulder. Finally it broke at the peg. Damn shame. Rather than toss the figure I superglued the arm back in the socket at an angle that still lets him hold (just not aim) his rifle. Is it possible to unscrew the torso to fix stuff like this in the future?

LOL!!!!
Do you use an accelerant or do you just put them over an open flame like a marshmallow?

I was wondering about microwaving some parts to melt them down and maybe reshape them. IDK. Maybe I'll get brave enough to try it.

And I appreciate the hand. It worked out just right.

I'll need to try that superglue trick on the crazy leg Gung Ho.

I've also noticed that alot of the figures come out of the package with loose hip joints. Makes them difficult to display as they want to sway one way or the other.

The same fate befell my Flash yesterday, though the cause was an aftermarket head where the neck fit was a bit too tight, but I jammed it on anyway. Tried being real careful-like removing it, but turns out the slight give I was feeling was the neck tearing apart. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I fixed Gung Ho and Zartans hip joints lastnight by appling superglue as Dark 5cythe suggested. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip.
