a meager success??

amen to that infinitron!!

Transformers is the biggest money maker of the year! and is becoming a GLOBAL phenomenon. I really can't stand it when people try to warp reality to justify their opinions. It's quite infantile.

Transformers is one of the many reasons I'm buying a Blu Ray player this fall.

Destro i got luv for you man....but i have to diagree.

soley on the fact that she is to young for that role.

Baroness is much older of a woman, you'd have to see that in her face to pull it off as authentic. give me that Director seat and i'll put together a GI JOE flick you will cream your pants.

one of my idea's:
Famke Janssen: Baroness (with accent lessons of course)

Snake-Eyes: Ray Park (as long as you don't see his face)

I think Sho Kosugi or Ken Watanabe would be a great Storm Shadow. Watanabe can play a stern, disciplined, warrior role quite well.

Aside from the "meager success" comment, I have to agree with prowl. Transformers was a concept-driven movie, and thus could get by mostly on spectacle. G.I.Joe doesn't have the wow-factor of "giant **** robots", and will therefore need to be much more character-driven. Sommers has displayed zero ability to create real drama. His movies aren't just bad, they're positively laughable.

If Lorenzo Di Bonaventura thinks he can just use the same formula for Transformers, simply because it's another toy-movie, then he's even dumber than I thought. He's already demonstrated complete ignorance of the characters. He doesn't think the audience will buy a mute commando (although he erroneously called Snake-eyes deaf), but the same audience will have no problem believing cars can turn into robots?

If they truly want to go the route of the popcorn-flick director, then at least give us Tony Scott, Gore Verbinski, or even Brett fucking Ratner.

Transformers took about a year into production to start drawing fan ire. This one is screwed from the get-go.

Sho Kosugi !!!!
Man i haven't heard that name i what....2 decades?!lol

Are you insane? dude is like 50 years old and Storm Shadow is/and should not be portrayed as that old.

He was the **** in the early 80's, i was a Sho Kosugi worshipper back then. Even so if you got a Ray Park-type as Snake-Eyes, you need a young, maybe 24-28 year old to play Storm Shadow... not an old man.

no offense, but if you do that....YOU'RE FIRED!!

PS - the ENEMY, i think i agree that this movie is doomed from the get-go. this sucks, because even though i was into Transformers as a kid, GI JOE was my favorite and would be greatly sadend by a screw up of this kind.

I think everyone on this site wants nothing more than for this movie to kick all kinds of ass! whether it will or not, ...who knows, but condemning it this early in the game for "told ya so" bragging rights is just ridiculous. I watched everyone do that to transformers for the past year and a half. Everyone wanted to have a hissy fit over the fact that optimus had flames on him!! and michael bay could have changed his name to big-baby-satan after they tapped him to direct. All everyone could do was talk about how horrible all of his movies were and how it was going to suck soo bad! the same thing is already starting to grow with this project and that's just lame. If you're a fan of something you stand behind it no matter what.
This movie is going to continue the "popcorn juggernaut" that transformers has now set in motion and stephen sommers can do "popcorn" movies better than many. Ultimately if tony scott, walter hill, or by the almighty if john mctiernan was brought on board to do this movie i would be as giddy as a schoolgirl!! As for sommers, he's a very functional director that can handle a big budget and effects. Check out Deep Rising it's probably his best work to date and is the closest to this project.

.........whew

swafus i understand you totally.

believe me , i liked Transformers a lot, but my biggest gripe was Megatron not staying as a gun. he could have pulled it off, trust me.

now i do not want to those braggin' rights at all...in fact i want more than anything for it to be accurate. most kids won't appreciate it anyway, because they didn't grow up on those characters, so i don't care what anyone thinks or says.

casting is going to play a huge role in the ability to pull that movie off we all know that. marky mark as Duke = d.o.a.
