Looking at the larger picture in the Live Action Movie section, you can see that there is texture / lines on SS's mask. Looking at it again, the costume is really growing on me. Though I am used to the original costume from the comics and toys, the whole 80's ninja theme needs an update. I think the more detailed the shot we'll get, the better the costume will look. My opinion though, obviously some of you will never like changes to the original outfit. Like Transformers, I feel that had they stuck with the original designs, it would look awkward on screen.

Depends on what years you're looking at for the figures. I was thinking more along the lines of the first Vietnam era greenshirts and original 13. Even a lot of the later looks just wouldn't translate well in terms of their color choices and dated looks. There are plenty exceptions to that, many on the Cobra side of things.

Its the costume, the mask, the shoes, its all kind of silly. Please dont tell me that if they did it any other way that the movie wouldnt be good because some costume designer knew what they were doing.
The V.1 outfit is a little simple, but what about this? I really hope they fix this for the 2nd movie. This outfit just kind of is a let down. We are finally getting a Joe movie, hooray... wait, what the heck is one of the most iconic cobra figures wearing? A suit and a mexican wrestling mask with some silly looking shoes? This is the problem with still photos. Since we have absolutely NOTHING else visually to go on about this movie other then a couple pics. people are scrutinizing EVERY little detail in EVERY single pic. I can pretty much assure you that something as inconsequential as SS's shoes might get freakin 4 seconds of air time and NO one will even give a rats ass about it when the movie hits. You won't even notice it unless you SPECIFICALLY look for it in which your currently setting yourself up for. I can't tell you how many movies I've seen over the years in which I've SEEN the movie first THEN happened to look through a book with still shots of the actors and said *Hey look at that...I never even noticed that in the movie!* The same will happen with G.I. Joe I'm telling you. Look at Star Wars for instance. We've all seen the movies, then looked through those little colorful picture books of the actors and and set surrondings then noticed a ton of extra detail that we didn't happen to see in the movie, it's just the way it works. How many of you stared at Obi-Wan's or Vader's boots in the movie....counted buckles, checked to see if the material was alpaca hide or wilder beast, burgundy or red...Haha this is ridiculous. Prob. none, there were better things that snagged your attention, then saw a still shot and studied it. Some of you are looking WAY to into this. Last edited by Sysiss; 05-07-2008 at 11:17 PM.. |

I'm liking the current looks, I love breaker and heavy duty. I'm ok with the mask on SS but it looks a little generic, I guess I have to get used to it. Destro is a let down as it is, but I'm sure Eccleston can pull it out.

Yup, this movie does look strange.
Why is Storm Shadow wearing a Leprosy outfit with tuxedo tails? Where the heck is his Black Belt??? White Belts are for novice martial artists of any fighting style. |

The new pics. have me wondering how close we are to seeing CC. That one might take the cake and actually cause some of the people here to stand outside of Paramount and picket at the rate this is going.

I'm actually diggin this look for GI Joe, I like them all. Breaker's kinda boring but I've never been a big fan of his anyway, good enough. Adawale looks awesome as Heavy Duty and Eccleston (sp?) looks way better than I thought he would as Destro. I know I'm in the minority here but I'm loving that look for Storm Shadow.
Same with Destro I like how he look and how he has a little medallion on his tie, which looks like the huge one he had in the cartoon and comics. As an future concept design artist myself I recognized how I think works in the real world and let's face it when it comes to movies you have to make things appealing to general audiences not the fanboys. The whole point of this movie is to sell as much merchandise possible and I can assure you I'll buy most of the toys just as a lot of you will. I also find amusing how out of nowhere people join the forums just to complain about the movie and never say anything worth reading same shit happened in the Transformers forums all over the internet when the movie was 1st announced. Just like someone mention a lot of people where bitching that Stormy didn't have a mask and now they are bitching it doesn't look right. Now wonder why people never take serious geeks and fanboys they give such importance to unimportant things like their hobbies. I don't even want to know how some people deal with everyday life. I must say I find funny when adults bitch about a toy movie is just as silly as reading them complain about toys. God I love Gijoe and Transformers but I have my limits there is a whole lot of shit that worries me in real life than a movie of an 80's cartoon that is year away for being released. my 2 cents. |
