And now I've seen it, I want the figure even more (apart from the crappy 'turbo copter'!)

Works for me. I like the idea of seeing M.A.S.K. figures on the shelves way more than if they were to start doing Eco-Warriors, Slaughter's Marauders, Tiger Force (ahem) and all that junk.
Now how about some 4" Air Raiders, or maybe Visionaries while we're at it...? ;) |

I'll say it one more time, I don't see what the big deal is. In this thread I've seen people say that "johnny come latelys" don't understand because they didn't have to sit through all the watered down incarnations of GI Joe and don't understand that Hasbro can't ruin my GI Joe again, blah blah blah. Now just because I'm 2 years younger then the franchise myself doesn't mean that I don't understand and appreciate it's history. I've been a GI Joe fan almost my whole life, reading old comics, buying old figures at flee markets and renting the miniseries and movie on video cassette. I was 10 in 92 when GI Joe first crossed over with another franchise in toy form to bring us Capcom Street Fighter II, I was still in elementry when Sgt Savage and the Screaming Eagles and GI Joe extreme came out... I didn't collect GI Joe Vs Cobra, Spy Troops, Valor VS Venom or Sigma Six toys, but I watched the shows and read the DDP comics...
So yeah, I know all the history and everything, but what's wrong with accepting new characters into the legacy? From Devil's Due's Wraith, Firewall, Verona (technically an old character but a new use) and so on... to the Cobra Air Trooper and other original characters in the line, to this. It adds new blood and gets people interested; Hasbro is in the buisness of making money, this toy appeals to two fanbases (like say Sgt Slaughter, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Street Fighter did) so it may serve to get more people into GI Joe who maybe watched MASK as a kid but missed Joe. And that's a good thing, more money in Hasbro's pocket means they will make more toys you want. They'll likely come up with an original bio for him that will barely touch on his MASK adventures, so whatever... if you don't like him don't buy him. But don't complain that he dillutes your GI Joe, there are obviously people who like him, and if you're not one you can pretend he doesn't exist, I don't see him showing up in the Larry Hama comics being a likely possiblilty anyway. |

Matt Trakker FTW! They even (kind of) put the original MASK logo on the card! I'm glad to see it, I like the nod to MASK's fans, I don't mind him being a part of GI Joe. MASK could easily be a sub-team like Tiger Force... He's cool...except for the Go-Go Gadget gyrocopter thing...

its basically annhilators helicopter from rah they just painted it green. i think he's sweet. they should do the whole line of mask on joe cards, i think it would be sweet, im not saying i want them to replace other figures that hasbro could make but it is deffinetly cool. i dont understand why they just dont make a mask line. i have a feeling that this matt tracker might become a really hard figure to find and who knows he might become exspense like se with black timber or yellow stalker but prolly not. anyway i like him.

The Helicopter backpack in the neon green/black is a homage to the vehicle Condor (Motorcycle/Helicopter). Most of us hate the neon, but as a homage to a M.A.S.K. vehicle it's actually pretty cool imo. Hasbro doesn't owns the M.A.S.K. name that's why they went with the full name: Mobile Armored Strike Command. It seems like having Matt Trakker in the GI Joe line IS a test for interest in M.A.S.K. and if very successful, we might get the amazing vehicles. Source: Matt Trakker.com MASK M.A.S.K. Here's what it says on Matt's File Card: ADVANCED VEHICLE SPECIALIST Code Name: SPECIALIST TRAKKER FILE NAME: Trakker, Matt PRIMARY MILITARY SPECIALTY: Vehicle Designer SECONDARY MILITARY SPECIALTY: Advanced Technology BIRTHPLACE: Classified SN: Classified SPECIALIST TRAKKER leads a secret unit which develops ordinary-looking vehicles that convert into advanced combat vehicles. Joining forces with the G.I. Joe team, the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand (M.A.S.K.) team battles V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem), the unit COBRA formed to construct its own converting vehicles. SPECIALIST TRAKKER uses his next-gen technological devices to preserve peace throughout the world and stop the corrupt forces that are using the same technology to amass power in a quest to control the world. "We have a responsiblity to use our ingenuity and advancements to help the world - and stop the power-hungry despots and criminals who hunger for their own glory." I think it's cool that they mentioned Miles Mayhem's counterpart to M.A.S.K., V.E.N.O.M. which is awesome as it does bring both sides in the M.A.S.K. story into the G.I. Joe universe. Plus, I think it's very funny that the logo for V.E.N.O.M. has a cobra on it which makes it being a separate unit under COBRA that much more perfect. :-D As for thinking Matt Trakker's existence is diluting my G.I. Joe, I think it actually is a perfect addition. G.I. Joe always had very high-tech military stuff so seeing G.I. Joe & COBRA make vehicles that convert into weapons makes sense; I could totally see a bunch of Alley-Vipers driving around in a suburban town in a van that transforms into a armored truck, & then see Matt Trakker with some 'joes in another "ordinary" vehicle that transforms & attacks to Alley-Vipers. The two lines, too me, compliment each other, kinda like peanut butter & chocolate; both are good on their own, but when you mix them together it tastes even better. I'd totally like to see Miles Mayhem make an appearance in the line as a counterpart for Matt to fight or maybe even have them each released again with their own brand-new vehicles. The vehicles is just wishful thinking, so I'll at least settle for the Miles Mayhem figure, maybe with a jet pack or something like he had in that old V.E.N.O.M.'S Revenge Adventure Pack. ~Collector-Viper |

Wait...so, Hasbro has now mad M.A.S.K. part of Cobra and part of the GI Joe universe. Curious how many people now will buy the vintage M.A.S.K. toys..hehe..
My feeling about this whole Matt Trakker things is how I feel about CAPCOM, SNK and other video game properties ala "Street Fighter II", "Final Fight" and "King of Fighters", "Fatal Fury", "Samurai Showdown", etc. In a video game sense, it worked because a lot of us who follow these series ended up buying the various lines. Not sure if it works with toy collectors though...the whole GI Joe and Transformers thing was not exactly my cup of tea and Hasbro releasing those die-cast figures that came out a few years ago, I know many people dig that.
