CC, that's really funny because I've had similar conversations with a friend of mine. We came up with a few different ways that MASK could become incorporated in to the Joe Universe.

There's more than enough ways to explain how MASK could enter the Joe Mythos. That being said, the purists are allowed to have their opinion... so am I, so here goes :
General Mayhem teams up with Cobra. Cobra + VENOM = No brainer Soto's little brother = Storm Shadow -------- There's so many ways you can merge the two, is redonkulous. I want to see a T-Bob/B.A.T. breakdance battle ala robot chicken style :| |

I certainly wasn't looking for sympathy and I can appreciate both sides of the discussion. I understand I'm coming a bit into the lion’s den here. I'm just sharing a POV from someone who is a big fan of MASK about what this announcement means to them.
Perhaps a more relevant question is - why couldn't M.A.S.K. exist in the same universe as GI Joe? There really is nothing about the technology or the setting that would preclude it; both are somewhat grounded in modern day, with some advanced science and special agents. It certainly seems like it comes from the same place as GI Joe and Transformers, where some of the other things that have been mentioned (like Star Wars, Thundercats, He Man, etc.) have much different settings and styles. Actually - I think the best chance for a MASK revival is to come as an offshoot of Gi Joe - keep the vehicles and figures in the same scale so they can co-mingle. This would allow for more compatibility between other HASBRO toy brands (like Star Wars, Indy, and of course GI Joe) There is nothing about the MASK origin story that wouldn’t allow MASK to be some sort of Civilian offshoot; maybe even sharing technology. Of course, having the bad guys called VENOM certainly allows for a logical tie back into COBRA. MASK, if you watch the cartoon, actually deals a bit more in the paranormal (kind of like X-Files or Indiana Jones), where magical or mystical objects around the world are trying to be stolen and used for evil. So again, MASK and Venom existing more on the civilian side could work together from a storyline perspective.

I have to admit, I was honestly surprised to see how much negativity there was against Matt Trakker. I mean, I guess I can understand the disappointment from some people, I just didn't expect it.

Like Albert Penello i'm a BIGGG M.A.S.K. Fan.
And it's very incredible for us to see Matt in the new 25th Anniversary Series, it's a dream for manyyyy people. Of course fans of MASK are less many than the fans of GIJOE but do not forget that the series of MASK toys stopped long ago for us. Well i love hasbro |

25th Anniversary line is supposed to be a celebration of the 3 3/4 GI Joe line, not a celebration of all 80s toys. |

But won't the "25th anniversary" tag be gone by the time Trakker is released?
And like I said, I can understand it, I was just surprised by it. I'm know not everyone will agree on things like this. It's all good with me though. ...Is that sum from Bionic Six? :o
