Rise of Cobra instructions

Some new old instructions are online for those who want to look. Note that they are labeled Rise (not Pursuit) of Cobra. That definitely means that they are from the previously canceled (and now scheduled for release) versions.

They occasionally post instructions despite a toy being canceled. Here are some other examples of that:

Here is a jpg of the cycle armor in case the pdfs don't open. I find it interesting that the Wraith head was already changed by the designers prior to Joecon 2009. But the instructions must have been done prior to (or without knowledge of) that change. These instructions definitely make Gyre's test shot with Wraith head even more fun to me.

Road Rebel coulda used more launching missiles, but I'd'a bought it and the transport (and especially the twin battle gun. I'd have gotten 2 of those).

I never knew that the H.I.S.S. scout was originally slated to be released during the Rise of Cobra line. That's very interesting.

This makes me wonder if the Pursuit of Cobra H.I.S.S. tank was also originally slated to be released during the ROC line as well because the 2 vehicles are meant to attach to one another.

Could it be that the POC line was never really intended to be a new line after all? Maybe it's really ROC in disguise labeled as POC in order to trick people into getting their mind off of movie themed items just to make new sales.

Slap something meant for ROC in a new box labeled POC and you have a seller instead of a shelf warmer waiting to be clearanced.

Makes perfect sense to me.

In any case I hope that some of these do eventually get released under POC instead. I would really like that desert themed RAM cycle.

Interesting. Though technically some of those were released overseas, just not here. So perhaps that is why the instructions were put up since it wasn't 100% cancelled.

Also think about the video game Hasbro had on it's site where you had 4 different levels and in the end you find out about Cobra's newest weapon, the Hiss tank! Now if you've read the note in the (cancelled) Mail away Cobra Commander that comes from Hawk it says "You faced Cobra in all four missions, strengthened your battle skills in special games, and captured Cobra Commander, leader of Cobra. I think, originally, the video game they had on their site is what you would have played in order to get the mail away Cobra Commander (or at least a code to get the order form or something)

Shogi, I assumed the same about the game but then on the tour on the ROC Destro and Zartan mock-up cards... they had POC stickers that said 'poster and special offer inside' ... but that doesn't mean the game wasn't involved some way too. I just assumed the offer stated was for CC.

Very cool find! Me and BvH are going to hunt down every cycle armor set like someone called an Order 66 on them.
