It's funny how much better Larry Hama's sketch version of the cover is than Augustin Padilla's. In Larry's version it actually looks like someone leaning out of a moving car window - the proportions and position of the body create the illusion.
In Padilla's version the body is too big and posed unrealistically - seems to be standing where the door is. I think Padilla is lacking some of the fundamentals when it comes to drawing comics. This series would be alot better if Hama was drawing. |

I like how the new Rage looks like the APV from the movie and RoC toylines.

Admittedly i wasn't reading RAH the last few years of its original run so I could be mistaken, but it seems to me that between Snake Eyes' tattoo sleeve and Storm Shadow in a white suit (in the middle of the dessert no less), IDW continues to try to shoehorn "movie universe" elements into all their other GIJOE continuities. It's a bit annoying, especially given how well the comic was done otherwise.

Uh...no. He is in the adaptation of Rise of Cobra. This is the first time that he is in an ongoing book published by IDW. This is not the same universe as G.I. Joe Origins, G.I. Joe and Cobra - those three books are the IDW Joe universe. SS's first appearance in that universe is from the book cover you have as your avatar.
Rise of Cobra is a second unverse. This book is a third universe and the original universe started nearly 30 years ago. SS has appeared in this universe multiple times, but the book was being published at the time by Marvel comics. It's not really a big deal b/c this is not a first appearance by the character in this universe. IDW has published issues 155.5, 156, and 157 so far of this series. Marvel published 1-155. Storm Shadow first appeared in issue 21 of this series. This is not the same universe as the "IDW Joe Universe" which is the universe that the comic cover of your avatar is from. IDW publishes three GI Joe universes. Last edited by Jay West; 08-09-2010 at 09:49 PM.. |
