Unfortunately they are customs made by the Joe team and not for sale. That sucks because they look cool and I was thinking they were going to be released.

Beach head is a bit disapointing- I can't quite put my finger on it, but he looks... kinda' plain. It also looks like he'll have movement issues at the hips like the Cobra soldier. He's one of my faves, though so I shall enjoy him. Serpentor looks pretty cool, but he's a strange choice- unlike the others who are acurate representations of the original package art, Serpentor is a completely new design. Buzzer is dead accurate- pretty cool. Stalker and Zartan are the jewels of this batch by far IMHO. It looks like Stalker will share the Snake Eyes body which means they can do all of the originals with a simple new head sculpt and specific accessories, which is promising. I'm pretty much a sucker especially when a line is new, but I'm not enough of one to purchase the second Cobra 5 pack for $30+ even if you do get a Cobrafied JUMP jetpack. It looks like the Red Ninja will also have a new head sculpt- that's a welcome change for 'ol Hasbro.
I also found the "Hasbro customs" section to be interesting. Their actually encouraging us to make custom figures. We've come a long way, baby (customizers, I mean).
Anyway, I'm pretty pleased and looking forward to these. I hope there's more to come.
Mike

Still, the other figures look really great and I would love to buy them. I only see three issues I hope can be looked into: Lady Jaye's cap should, in my opinion, look more like a baseball cap; Serpentor really needs his "cobra hood" like the original; Zartan's prototype appears to be wearing a shirt under his armor, unlike the original which was shirtless. These are really minor issues and I'll buy them either way, but it would be nice if Hasbro would look into such isues before they're released.
As for the Cobra boxed set, I have mixed felings. Though I'm sure there are people who love the new Storm Shadow look, I still like the classic one more, and never actually knew about this outfit until recently. Furthermore, I was really hoping Cobra Commander would be wearing his 1987 armor and not just be a repaint (come to think of it, the whole boxed set is repaints!!!). The Soldier looks great, and so do the Stinger driver and Pilot with the jetpack... in fact, they look so good, I REALLY wish they would have considered replacing Storm Shadow and CC with two other cobra soldier-type figures to make this an army-builder set. But oh well. I might break down and buy two sets anyways, 'cause I love those soldiers and drivers!
Nice to see Stalker is using Snake-Eye's body, I must say. I'm really hoping Hasbro will make the whole original Joe team from 82, since most of them used the same (or similar) body anyway! I've always wanted an updated version of the original team, and I'm hoping Hasbro can deliver!
All in all, I can't wait to see more pics and to hear more from Hasbro concerning future figures and vehicle possibilities. This 25 Anniversary has made me a Joe collector once again!! |

I don't have to imagine. I lived that feeling myself when I saw that customs sign and saw "Unavailable" under the Range Vipers name. They are some great figures. Welcome to the boards by the way.

It appears he'll just be a straight repaint of Beachhead, but with different webgear and accessories. He was the one I was looking forward to the most; I wish he could've gotten an original torso sclupt to incorporate his jumpsuit. Maybe I'm not seeing it correctly.
EDIT: Okay, maybe he has a new head sculpt. I still need clearer pics of this guy.

I came to that conclusion after looking at the head of the prototype and the production sample. The hat on the prototype looks like it may be put on a little tighter and the carded one seems a little different too, like the hat is angled differently. I hope that is the case because it would greatly improve the way the figure looks. Then again maybe I'm just looking too hard and the angles are playing tricks on my eyes. It also looks like Serpentor's helmet may be removable.
