2007 G.I.Joe Convention Discussion

Following the lead of our good friend Dream, and in an attempt to keep all news related to this year's Con in one easy to find place, please keep all Convention related News items here.

To re-cap, the first description of the set was released via MC's 2007 Con Brochure online.
Quote:
The 25th Anniversary 3 3/4” set is entitled Tanks for the Memories. COBRA spies have infiltrated the United States Government, and acquired the location and inventory records for a Top Secret weapons storage facility hidden in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The U.S. Military has been stockpiling a weapons cache there since WWII, and has recently added large amounts of chemical weapons! COBRA COMMANDER has the perfect plan to steal these supplies for his own evil schemes, using prototype tanks based on stolen G.I. JOE vehicle specifications, and an elite squad of COBRA Shock Troops specifically chosen to guarantee the success of the retrieval mission.

Meanwhile, at Fort Carson Colorado, a G.I. JOE squad is conducting cold-weather training. When the urgent radio message comes in from General Hawk, this training (designed for the team’s “old school” members that don’t get into the field too often) becomes more than an exercise. COBRA has launched a surprise attack on the Rocky Mountain chemical weapons storage facility. This crew of experienced G.I. Joe veterans is the only hope of stopping them from releasing havoc on the world. Suddenly these routine maneuvers become a matter of survival of the fittest! When these warriors collide, who will win this epic tank battle...?

So, to recap this outstanding set, you get fifteen figures with weapons and accessories consisting of: Sgt. Clutch, Doc (female), Sgt. Flash, Grunt, Rock ‘N Roll, Sparks, Sgt. Zap, Lt. Claymore, COBRA Officer (female) & COBRA Trooper (female). This set comes in the same style illustrated box as the past years’ sets. We are excited to announce that the filecard art was drawn by Herb Trimpe of Marvel Comics G.I. JOE issue #1 fame! Don’t wait to place your order. This set is limited to only 750 editions.*
We were then given "puzzle pieces" on a daily basis which slowly revealed this year's Box Art. What will really spark your interest is the Cobra Blue Mauler tank displayed along with the figures in the set!

So far, Master Collector has posted images of the following figures:

Cobra Female Soldier
Cobra Female Officer

G.I.Joe Rock & Roll
G.I.Joe Doc

Pictures of all the aforementioned items can be seen here

As mentioned, please keep all info relating to this year's Con & Con set here, so that it's easier to find for those that are looking.

----------------------------

So far, this set looks great, IMO. The fact that we're getting more female figures is awesome. I'm lovin' the female Doc figure...nice change to a classic name. Rock & Roll is sweet...but so far, the must have IMO are the Female Cobra Troopers/Officer..

I reaaaaaaally hope that Cobra Blue Mauler is not only released as an offering this year, but that it's not too expensive...as I need at least 3 of them

I really like the set, but I am still up in the air about ordering it. I know if I get the set, I'll want the vehicles and mini vehicles...so, looking at alot of bucks.

Still undecided.

UPDATED 7/15/07:
It's Sunday Night! I hope everyone is well rested because here we go again! Here is the fourth
G.I. Joe figure from the 2007 3 3/4" Con set! Presented for your viewing enjoyment is ZAP!
This figure, like Rock N' Roll, features the "Stone Blizzard" winter camo pattern which fits the Colorado
Rocky Mountains setting for the 'story' of this year's set. This figure comes with a firing spring-loaded weapon.
There are only FOUR more figures from the set left to show. Only one more is left to show that shares this
camo patterm. Who will it be? Tomorrow, though, we move back to the COBRA side of the fence.

I believe it's a bit more, GS. I don't really recall...but I think the set is going to run about $250...

IMO, it's a bit too much. I'm less than impressed with the Lt. Clay More figure. Balrog's head & Ice Cream Soldier's body? Why? WHY I SAY, WHY?!?!?

At least Grunt looks good. This set is iffy for me. I want it because its the 25th set...want it for the vehicles, not to sure if I want all the figures...but definitely want those females...
