The Clear look would be nice to see in stores.

I have the released Zartan at my desk here right now and can tell that the arms are molded of black plastic and the legs and torso are of a clear plastic. I don't care to bend the neck around to see what color the head piece is.
It is possible to paint over a clear or metallic surface with a transparent paint so that the base coat or surface shows through. Isn't pigment is added to plastics, not paint? |

You can take the figure they make now and scrub it with acetone and a toothbrush, then cover it with clear coat to get this same look. This figure was my base for making my custom Wraith. You'll see him in the top right of the picture below (note the clear legs).

Paint is mixed with the clear plastic to give it a "tint" at the factory. If you put paint on a clear piece, it won't be clear anymore.
The whole figure is probably one tool, so they would do it all the same color and simply paint over the areas that are not supposed to be clear. If you scratched off the paint on one of the other areas it's most likely clear blue under it. Still, a cool piece. Test shots that escape are fun as things change between a first shot and final production. |

I can confirm what hantei has said. Bought a clearance Zartan today at lunch, put it in a fingernail polish bath, and discovered that is indeed clear underneath all the paint - without even a blue finish. It does take some work, though, to make it clear, but what a cool surprise!
