K-Mart.
Wow man. K-Mart. That's still a shocker to me everytime I see that. (I got all of Wave 1 at a K-mart, myself) It's like being back in the 80's again. I got 3/4 of my Joe stuff from K-Mart. |

Don't forget that Target will be getting the exclusive vehicles, so maybe they didn't want to leave walmart out.
By the way, I opened my wave 3 comic packs just now. Here are some of my thoughts: - Wild Weasel: A great figure and my favorite of this set. A great use of the Snow Job mold. - Ace: Not too bad, but his eyes make him look like Arnold Swarzenegger near the end of Total Recall. His helmet creates some distortion when it's on, making his head look a little strange. I think I prefer him with his gear off. - Tomax & Xamot: Another great pair of figures. Sure their heads are a little narrow, but it doesn't bother me. Their shoulder guard comes off very easily. - Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow: Not too bad, but nothing really unexpected. Snake Eye's bare arm is thicker and more muscular than the one with the sleeve. Storm Shadow looks just right for a trip to grandma's with a basket of goodies. Just watch for that wolf Tommy!! - Fred and Scarface: Scarface is what you'd expect. His hair is painted on, but looks fine to me. The Fred CG is nice, given the quality of the CG mold. His face is a little puffy, however. Maybe he just had his wisdon teeth removed. I wish he came with the same weapon as the carded CGs. I haven't had a chance to read the comics yet. I'll do that later tonight when I can open up a beer and relax. -

I haven't seen anything but over priced 5-packs at K-Mart.

I found the twins, ww/ace, and ss/se tonight at the Walmart in Stevenson Ranch, CA. I think Storm Shadow is actually very underated; Snake Eyes is above average; the twins rock (even with the green guns), and Weasel is very solid...not sure if he's my favorite though.
I wasn't lucky enough to find Fred/SFace...but I'm sure I'll find them soon. If anyone is near by (Valencia/Santa Clarita area) they had two more Weasel/Ace and SS/SE packs...I took both twins as they were my childhood favorites. |

Yeah the green guns are pretty weak, and somewhat oversized I think. But I have to make an order at Marauder Johns soon anyway. Wild Weasel's great.
I think the tattoo on Storm Shadow is stamped on wrong. If you turn it outward, aside from the muscle being curved all wrong, the wrist doesn't line up right. Noticed the same thing with the Joe Version of SS. |

Found 3 out of 4 packs at Walmart in Monroe, WI! Here's my short review:
Tomax/Xamot = pure awesome. I actually really like the guns they come with, even if they are green. Xamot's shoulder thing keeps popping off, but I can live with that. It stays on if you don't move him, har har. I really dig that the entire collar comes off. That upper body would be perfect for someone, but I can't think of whoo right now. Ace/Wild Weasel = slightly short of amazing. If the twins are 5 star figures, then these two are 4 and a half. For some reason I'm loving the Ace figure. Not sure why, as I never had the original but did get in on the later versions. I was too young to get the Skystriker when it was out, hence not having the original Ace. Wild Weasel is the same way, but again, he's awesome. Perfect, perfect, perfect representation of not only a Cobra pilot, but just a pilot in general. They could use this mold(which is mostly Snow Job's) for whatever pilot they wanted, and I wouldn't care. Repaint it with a new head and call it Slipstream, and then package him with a re-released Conquest. Man, I need to work at Hasbro. CG/Scarface = last and least. I don't know what it is about the removable helmet CG, but it does nothing for me. Maybe it'll grow on me, but I dunno. While I like the rifle that he comes with, how the hell is he supposed to hold it? Scarface is pretty much what you'd expect, and the painted hair is nice. Sculpted would have been better, but then the helmet wouldn't fit. The opposite of the CG, I *love* the new AK. Even if it's not new, it rocks. We need more Cobra Troopers with different weapons instead of the same old sniper rifle they've all been coming with. Didn't see the SE set, but I'm not complaining. I got a second CG/Scarface pack for my friend, but now I'm contemplating opening him. Nah, I proabably won't. I'm sure I'll find another one soon enough.

Review:
Twins: Look a bit Asian. I haven't had any problem with the shoulder pads although it wouldn't take much. Because they are made the right way with non painted faces, they are more reminescant of viintage Joe's like the Dreadnok 2-pack, thus a better chance you'll get a good paint app 1st round... Scarface/Fred: Better than expected & might look the best overall in package. Scarface's "face" is tweeked to actually have scarred definition not just paint. Fred is a bit of a pale uggo & is exactly the same color as the single packed CG. Helmet fits great! Ace/WW: Weasel is awesome in every way, nice bulk, the head could be a tad bigger but that's minor, googles fit nicely. Very solid. Ace on the other hand...body is a bit elongated...No gun sux. Helmet is a VERY tight fit & warps his face (perspective only) when placed on. My other bro said he looks so much like the original fig (even with the yellowed white) that it looks like a pulled him outta the old toybox!! @_@ On the bright side he has nicely sculpted arms & legs. SE/SS: SE's "new battle damaged body" is made to be a little longer (with this new bottom torso half) so he is a wee bit taller, & feels as if he is made of different plastic. His appearance is somewhere between the Box set version & Version (black) so he looks just great. he has the COBRA sigil on his explosives pack...must of swiped it...SS is one of my favorites as the cape is real quality with good stitching & I like his overall color scheme with the minor changes to his overall pallet. His wrist joints are constructed slightly differently than previous versions. The Bow and bandalier are a waste as he can't hold the bow to well (at least in a convinving pose) And you have to take the cape off for the arrow pack. The original "Silent" issue is much better IMO. I recommend all for your collection as even the rehashed figs offer something new... & more Joes is more fun! And now you know... and knowing is half the battle!! YO JOE!! Last edited by Steel Brigade; 02-10-2008 at 06:56 PM.. |

This is the best wave of comic sets yet, obviously, but it's not with out it's problems. Hasbro's still painting the heads of the figures rather than molding them in the flesh tone plastic, and that makes a lot of these figures pretty sloppy looking. Ace is particularly bad. Snake Eyes and Stormshadow are nice, but I'm really burnt out on the v1 of SS & SE. I like the new headsculpt on the Scarred Officer, and the Crimson Guard is really nice. Wild Weasel is nearly perfect, but I wish his helmet was molded out of red plastic instead of painted red. The Crimson Twins are great!
