I hope these sell well enough to get us more than a single six pack. That is kinda of disappointing.

These are really cool. I collect Transformers and always wanted to put a GIJoe Aesthetic into my collection. These little figures scale up perfectly.

I have a few of the micro figures that came in the 89 Joe figures. I will get these new figures so I can match them with the micro figures...

I like the Nano fgures Jada makes. I have some of the DC comics ones and the whole Street Fighter series. They're made well, look good for being small metal figurines and are crazy cheap to collect. If Jada ends up putting out a whole series of 10-20 single Joe releases I'll scoop up every one.
Dislike: The bases being unpainted. ERTL and many classic lines have managed either black painted bases or clear plastic bases. The decos can be a bit murky. Likely as a result of being diecast and not tampograph or more modern printing. Likes: The price. The scale. These are suited to diorama building. Again, the scale works with many things. The playsets have come in essentially two sizes, both of which would be nice for Joe. The small, no assembly playsets have levels and quality detailing. The larger playsets have LEDs and great ranges of options for a quality diorama. So here's what I see these being great for: Transformers/Joe fans. The figures are close to Titan Master size. They're smaller than Mega Construx. As such they are generally only slightly oversized for display with most civilian vehicles and slightly undersized for display with robot modes. In general, now that robot modes have a defined scale, vehicles are to scale with 1-1.25" figures. Robots from the G1 cartoon are to scale with 2" humans. These are CLOSE to the 2" He-Man Megaconstrux. These are MUCH MUCH cheaper than the Gentle Giant or World's Smallest figures which are comparable size and minimally poseable. These are also not far off from the ARAH miniatures. Or the HISS Tank mini from Running Press. As such, any playsets developed for these should display reasonably well with Transformers Generations toys including WFC and Studio Series as well as Mega Construx. The figures themselves may be minimal but the alternatives are currently MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE for little or no added articulation/play. They're compatible display wise with a lot of things. Any playsets are likely to be compatible with a lot of things. There's already a rich ecosystem of things to display these with, including Marvel, Disney, DC, and Harry Potter with their own LED dioramas. Cobra invading Hogwarts or the Batcave seems fun to me. But, really, I see these as a great addition to a Transformers display and the only option that doesn't break the bank. Alternatives may have some articulation but none I'm aware of have the relevant articulation: the ability to sit down and drive TFs with cockpits. So in terms of a Cobra Commander you can stick on Megatron's shoulder, this is a pretty solid option. |
