Really, my sentiments overall are mirroring what HCC788 said on his last livestream, that being, regardless of how I feel about the individual figures, the gold issue, whatever nitpicks I might have, or how I would have preferred the designs, ultimately I’m just going to enjoy having GI Joe back in public view again, having people talking about GI Joe, seeing advertisements, seeing GI Joe movie promos, having toys and merch on store shelves, and generally having a spotlight on GI Joe again. And hoping that it takes a more permanent hold in the mainstream this time, than it did back in 2009 or 2013.
And consider this: Hasbro is still basing this new GI Joe push on ARAH. The characters, presumably the story, the designs (more or less)—they could have completely revamped everything, like in 1982, discarding ARAH, Joe vs Cobra, and going with a whole new concept and cast of characters. But they didn’t. I’m just trying to not lose sight of the forest for the trees here.

I meant the Sunbow look. It is slightly different than his V1 look (long gloves v. short gloves, blue shirt v. black shirt under the coat and he has a different shape to the face mask). But yes, I love the Chrome Mask / Battle helmet look. Cobra Commander is my favorite character and it's because of that look.

Well, judging by the latest email from Hasbropulse, Fan First Friday is yet again Star Wars centric.

A healthy viewpoint, and one I wish more of the naysayers would consider adopting.
Besides...it's not like Classified is ANYTHING like Sigma 6, which was one absolutely retarded line that really buttfucked the Joe brand overall. A little bit of gold trim and some sci-fi weapons aren't a big deal at all in comparison. |

I'll buy certain pieces out of this Classified line. Snake Eyes is awesome... but the rest of Wave One I'll have to wait and see. Never been a big Destro fan. Roadblock bugs me because I've been holding out for a Larry Hama 'huge' version Roadblock for so long. Missed opportunity. Scarlet is okay - but looks too generic superhero-ish... plus, I can't get over how her box art looks just like Kim Wexler from Better Call Saul. |

I enjoyed the spirit behind what Sigma Six was intended to be- and boy did Hasbro go all out with their redesign- but the figures just weren't Joe. I'd wager that Stephen Hassenfeld would have given SS a major thumbs down if he were in charge of the re-uplift. But anyway, not really cool to besmirch the dead (Sigma in this case, not Stephen), but I wasn't a huge fan and that line hasn't had any staying power for me as a collector.

However, in a broad view, I totally understand why Sigma 6 was not a hit with collectors. And I wouldn't want Hasbro to go that route again, really. But it did highlight for me the importance of not prejudging too harshly, until you explore or experience something a bit more. I still love this Recondo figure: Quote:
