I seemingly remember that back when the ROC (Rise of Cobra Movie) toys first came out that they sold quite well! Even that tiny Night Raven Nerf vehicle sold out initially along with the armored black hummer. I am referring to the initial wave 1 and 2 and I recall TRU setting up all these large and dedicated aisles with displays and it was like the 80's all over again, for a while at least.
My point is that if a product is marketed well enough that it will sell! Of course the movie turned out to be quite...average. However, that initial excitement of the marketing and getting the toy retailers to support the product with their own marketing ..thats what made ROC sell well initially. I don't see why Hasbro and Jazwares can't repeat that same formula. Kids along with Adults will buy in! |

There was a bit of an over saturation problem, but it wasn’t a Phantom Menace level disaster. I think the ROC figures were also a little visually bland.. everything was black or the same blue camo. That being said, while some of the oversaturated core movie characters ended up on clearance, most of the more ARAH-ish stuff sold through
The Retaliation line suffered because the first wave was in stores for the movie’s release and then the studio pushed the release back 6 or 8 months to add some 3D stuff and Channing Tatum (both were really big that year). The first wave of figures also frankly sucked. That fucked up the delivery of the second wave of figures and by the time the third wave (which contained a bunch of the “Ultimate” figures people actually wanted) the retailers were done with it and it ended up at five below. The 50th stuff would have done better if it wasn’t exclusive to one retailer with a shrinking number of brick and mortar stores. By the time the third wave was ready TRU was on the verge of bankruptcy, which may have influenced their decision to not order the offered vehicles.

The main WWE figures have been 6" since Jack's Pacific stated releasing figures in 1 996 or 1997. The Mattel uped the WWE game when they started scaling the figures to each other in 2010. I hope the 6" Joe's are scaled to each other. Like Snake Eyes should be less muscular than Duke of Flint and Roadblock should be the biggest. If I was to compare GI Joe to the current WWE figures scale wise it would be:
Snake Eyes - Aj Styles Duke/Flint - Triple H Roadblock - Braun Strowman Tunnel Rat - Rey Mysterio The WWE figures listed is just to get a idea of how I would like to see the figures scaled to each other and not I think Duke should be as muscular as Triple H. |

Hey there. Long time Joe collector, new to the forum. Just got back from my local comic shop. Talking to the owner and told me he just placed his order with Hasbro this morning for 6” Joes! I asked about 4” and he said 6” was it. He said he’ll have them in less that 6 months.

I bought Quick Kick...er, Shang Chi today.
I now have Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Kamakura (Articulated Icons), Sgt. Slaughter (wrestling), Baroness, Quick Kick (Marvel Legends), Steel Brigade (Valaverse), and Cobra Soldiers (some other Kickstarter), plus things like Killmonger and Rick Flagg. I am as ready as I can be, I think. |

Keep in mind that standard retail (Walmart, Target, et al) might not get stuff until September when they do their fall resets and cycle in other fall/holiday toy releases. You're damn skippy you are! :p
