As much as I like the 6” scale I also want 4” Joes as well. Let’s keep hoping!

I have dreams like that all the time. The new designs from the Star Wars High Republic characters have me triggered, man. I think I’ve seen some of those in my dreams

Don't think we're going to be seeing any 4 inch figures. I think a very vocal minority in the GI Joe collecting community got the 6-inch line they wanted. While some of it looks interesting. it's definitely not as good of a scale to collect. At least not for me.

The "other lines" have current, ongoing media to draw from and have never (at least in the past quarter-century) lain dormant the way GI Joe has. Likewise, GI Joe has never regained mainstream traction (most importantly with succeeding generations from our own) to the degree those franchises and Transformers have.
Power Rangers gets "reinvented" every couple seasons. Star Wars gets new stuff every movie. Same with Marvel. So there's no need to "refresh"/rework the lines in the manner Joe is being refreshed, because there's already an existing pipeline for new designs. Though the most important distinction of all is: Those lines are currently selling well enough that Hasbro doesn't feel the need to reinvent the wheel (and even here with the new Joes they didn't reinvent the wheel, just put a shiny new rim on it that some folks think is too gaudy). Marvel might be the biggest pop culture franchise of all time now. Whatever one thinks of the new Star Wars movies, there is still Star Wars media that hooks new kids into it all the time. Transformers reinvents itself every few years and usually manages to hook a new generation of kids. Power Rangers has (inexplicably, IMO) been going strong for over 25 years too. They all have proven cross-generational appeal. GI Joe...hasn't. It's come in fits and starts and then sputters out, for whatever reasons, and most importantly it just doesn't seem to hook kids as easily as some of those other franchises. |

As Jmacq1 was saying GI Joe seems to have trouble hooking kids anymore. So if this 6in line and Snake Eyes both don't do well for whatever reason, and new kids don't buy the stuff it maybe time to kill GI Joe.
It would be tragic as it is in my opinion the best toy/media franchises ever created. However if it does not do well Hasbro may need to either drop GI Joe all together, or maybe have a total revamp sort of like what happened to the original GI Joe in the 60s, and then Adventure Team in the 70s. But to me it seems more and more like the end of GI Joe is coming. I know they could still produce some collectors lines, and maybe even something on Haslab. However even if they did, they cannot keep making the same characters and slightly redesigned figures forever. |

Don't worry, nothing sexual. I walked into Chick fila and you took my order. You were wearing the Chick fila uniform but you had a paper mask on and the mask your avatar. Plus your nametag said, axonrey. We were holding up line because we were talking about Joes. |

You would think that but look at Transformers, TMNT, He-Man, Marvel and DC figures. That's pretty much the business model. Sure, some redesigns or relaunches are more extensive than others but it's still the same old basic story and characters. You have to come up with some slight new angle to the old story, use talented people and hit the right buttons with the audience with your updates. Eventually, new properties come out and rise above the old ones but some of those old properties hold on for a long, long time after their initial hey day.
