Hahah!!! Crap!!! Well, I guess I better give my daughters their ponies back... Maybe I could make them Taun-Tauns. lol Seriously though. I do agree. I love more females and varieties of color. 'Cept fer dem Injuns folks. Just kidding. It makes sense to have that. I even like having characters like Red Star, Big Ben, Verona and others. Like as overseas operatives or joint operations, and the like. I just dont like taking established characters and changing them. I DO however have no problem making them different characters. Dial-Tone becomes "Hotline" or whatever, movie Ripcord is an updated Stalker, etc. Or whatever you like. To each his own. But what gets me, is that like so many things, it becomes political. Here is what I mean. It is okay for them to make Repeater, a white guy, into a black guy. Or Dial-Tone, a male into a female. HOWEVER... If you reversted that... say, Stalker into a white guy, it would suddenly be "racist". Or Bombstrike into a male... it would be "sexist". That's what really bugs me. BUT.. I think Hasbro has thus far handeled it pretty well. Yes, they made Ripcord into a black man. And many of use feared we'd never see "our" Ripcord again. But they did also make us a Ripcord as we remember him. I think we will get a male Dial-Tone at some point too. And who knows, maybe even a white Repeater that is true to the original figure. Its not like it wouldnt sell. Maybe we'll see them in another 7 pack of some sort even. That'd be cool. Anyway, I hope none of that came out wrong. I hope they stick to what the figure origins and that this is just a phase. But I also would love to see new characters as well. As for the product we are getting this year... Looks like some great stuff! (and here I thought I was about done with collecting) However... has anyone seen how much Star Wars stuff is comming out in comparisson? WOW! Its like 4 times as much as the GI Joe stuff. I love Star Wars! But does it really outsell GI Joe figure for figure to make them produce some much more than the Joe stuff? Must be, but it doesnt seem like it would... There's my 2 cents. Now leave me alone, my tummy hurts... lol
I have to agree. And let's also remember that "diversity" doesn't mean "people who look different". These are characters that we've grown up with. I couldn't tell from the pics that Night Adder was black, but here is a great example of a new character who looks interesting and awesome, and i welcome him to the Joe-verse. Going back and changing existing characters' gender and ethnicity seems bizarre. You could argue it's racist/sexist to make that change. But more importantly i feel it robs the character of its identity.
I agree completely and that was my point a couple of pages back. It just not necessary, does not make sense. Change for the sake of change. |

I'd laugh my ass off if at Joecon they show off some classic-modeled figures. That would be so damn funny with all this bitching.

This is like Christmas, it is energizing and exciting, and we should all be proud to be part of something this huge. And they were having a two for 9.99 figure/13.99 alpha class vehicle sale(I'm Not sure if this has been posted, and I would start it's own thread, but don't know how). I never thought I would find firefly at retail, because of the previous 25th distribution. We are living in the gi joe salad days with no real end in sight. p.s. Destro and the HISSTANK.com staff have my supreme gratitude for the work that they do. It keeps me coming back almost everyday, despite the occasional negativity. Congrats Ladies and Gentleman, you are hands down my favorite web site.
High 5's man, a true fan!
