Gi Joe was big in other places as well not only India. Why India now? Because US has a diplomatic/economic problem with China and Gi Joe was never big there even when it was produced mostly there. India is cheap and the market is big and they want to revive that. Europe is expensive and is very China products oriented. I remember here in Portugal a very small market all the kids had at least a few toys, they local importer even made competitions for drawings. I remember I was in the best 20 and received a tshirt. Besides Portugal GI Joe was also a big thing in UK, Belgium and Netherlands. You can still find a lot of ARAH stuff on ebay.be and I'm talking about big things like Night Raven and such. I got my Night Raven and 2 other vehicles from Belgium.

I live in Sri Lanka; the neighboring country of India. Trust me when I say that back in 1980s and 90s G.I. Joe was the No. 1 selling toy in both countries. In fact, it was the first branded toy to be sold here. It introduced branded toys to our countries.
I still remember the local shop which had a massive aisle full of Joe toys. I convinced my parents and visited there a week later and it was all gone except for 5 toys. It was also the first toyline to feature TV commercials with child actors from both countries. One of them grew up to be a Bollywood star too. G.I. Joe is a recognized brand name in India as much as it was for the US at that time. Ah, the good ol' days.

That's what they should do instead of "Funskool" variants

We’ll see what sort of half-baked shit they try to give us. Will it be 5-POA 3 3/4? 5 POA “Jumbo”? Decently articulated 6”? Zip cord motorcycles? Funko Pops? Colorforms?
They seem dedicated to not giving us good 3 3/4 scale figures.

Well seeing that Star Wars is going 5 inch G.I. Joe might end up there, as Hasbro is doing their best to let 3.75 inch die
