Kind of sounds like they are going by the old cliche of "putting all the eggs in one basket" with throwing everything into the movie as far as the toys go. If the movie does turn out to be a huge pile of guano, then it sounds like we may be stuck with toys based on that. I really hope they do enough with Resolute to create a buffer if the movie tanks. I would hate to see a couple more years of crap just because the Hasbro Marketing Department went all retarded.

Seems like no one asked why the movie figures didn't get the same attention as the TF figures as far as evenly distributed, available every where etc.

Well, they DID just launch. Plus the movie itself is still a couple of weeks away. I'd wager distribution will be more even and more widespread as we go.

i so hear you and thats what i said to they put everything in the hopes that the movie will be a hit. so i really dont think they have a back up plan. I hope they do but from the sounds of it nope. as they want this to be the new line for joe. What i loved most about joe was the toys were 85% real army stuff and 15% sci fi/ fantasy. now its 99% sci fi/ fantasty and 1% real army. i see then end coming very soon. If the Movie flops. as i said once you ring that bell you cant un ring it.
They DO have plans for the future though, which is a more sane expectation. I would bet dollars to doughnuts though that they have plans for post-Movie, 2010 [after the ancillary ROC second wave/subline imprint finishes]. Something very important to note is that they're probably working on the next line ALREADY [lead time for design and all that]. So the odds are that they're NOT waiting to see whether the Movie does well or not, and are instead designing something for the next year sight unseen. This isn't necessarily a bad idea, mind you, as they've done it well before for other lines. It could be similar to what the Movie has. It could be as different from ROC as 2008's Transformers Animated was different in look and feel from the 2007 Transformers movie. Batman survived Clooney and Schumacher [the films took a while to show up again but everything else rolled right on ahead]. Street Fighter survived, well, "Street Fighter." The GI Joe brand has been going for 25 years and more through offbeat ideas like Cobra-la, Ninja Force, and different directions like Sigma 6 and VVV. One "bad" Movie will not kill GI Joe. Especially if "bad" = "I don't like the direction they're taking."

The ARAH line really started deviating from "real life" after the 1983 line.

Hasbro: The advice to collectors is to keep hunting as the sets were made in a significant quantity and will make it into the market. Due to inventory levels and retailers moving to movie product, many discount retailers are taking this opportunity to pick up GI Joe products including the DVD packs.
so then why didn't they show up at those stores when stuff was put on clearance and where did marshalls and those other stores get their stock from keep hunting, ya thanks. i would have to drive almost 60 miles to washington state to even have chance at getting them at retail

I don't understand the expectation for Hasbro to be able to answer questions about inter-store distribution. They make a set amount, sell them to the retailers, ship them to the retailers, and that's the end of their involvement until they get the numbers back.
That's like asking a college textbook publisher why so many college students are still not geniuses.
