It may have sold well... but I have a low opinion of the superhero comics of that era, so what sold well in the pouched mutant craze of the ‘90s means little to me. I remember from the little bit of X-force that I read was that the initial team was mostly identically powered relatives or gender-swapped versions of other X-Characters.

Back in the 90's I wasn't Liefeld fan as his work felt like a bad McFarlane imitation at the time. Since then he has grown on me and I will definitely be checking out this new series.

Let's be fair, Jack Kirby is iconic and a massive contributor to comics, but his artwork was a little squirrely in terms of proportions and posing

Kirby’s proportions could be off, of course. But when Jack’s artwork is wonky it usually still has a sense of dynamism and motion that RL couldn’t hit on his best day. No matter how many bizarre contortions or speed lines RL throws in there it always seems flat to me.
Now... if we are talking about the characters created by the King as opposed to RL... there’s really no contest at all.

Yeah, the Kirby (art) bashing has to stop. Show some respect, people.

Kirby and Liefield are easy to rip, but they are the masters.

I don't mind robs artwork and met him at a comic con and he truly was a good guy my biggest issue is he has a hard time meeting deadlines or finishing projects. After all he did get fired from Marvel's heroes reborn for those issues

While I'm not a fan of his art, it is a good a high profile creator is doing some G.I. Joe work. Maybe others will follow.

I was never a fan of Liefeld. I had a lot of expectations when Youngblood came out, but it was awful. Still, I think having a "name" artist on a Joe book will get some attention. Maybe Jim Lee is on deck (in my dreams).

Rob being on the book is huge news, hopefully it can move the needle a bit. And maybe more importantly, bring "FUN" back to the Joe funny books.
Who knows, maybe Rob is lurking on here. Waves hand. |
