This was my dream toy when I was a kid. I even made my own out of a plastic shelving unit. I remember drilling holes to make my own elevator.

I would love a Pit. I remember trying to talk my dad into making one. Not a good sense of scale when I was 10.
I concur though, no Flagg or terrordrome, something new. Too big, but I would love a "Jane" command/assault ship disguised as a freighter. |

While I'd never back that as a crowdfund project or buy it as a play set in stores the concept is interesting. I use 24" x 48" industrial shelves for my toys, and I'll probably put some thought into replicating that concept once my home renovations are complete.

When they offered the Sail Barge I was on the fence, but then they gave employees a discounted rate (I paid 300 via a relative). So I pulled the trigger and bought it. It now sits in my basement because I have no room to display it yet (the new house will have a designated mancave!) Plus the spike in price for any figure associated with it got ridiculous.
What would be the ideal new mold to offer for a GI Joe line? Who know, maybe they'll read this and get some people talking. Not what would make the list though. Maybe a scaled MOBAT with a tank crew? |

I don't collect Transformers. However this is really cool. If I was rich and had nothing to do but purchase toys I would definitely back this. Now they need to do something for GI Joe! I know some people would like an updated large playset. I think an updated version of the killer whale would be the best bet. If we get away from the mindset of re-releasing things. I think it would be cool to see a cobra Temple playset or a large Cobra helicopter from the comic.

The big Cobra helicopter from the comic is the toy we never got so that would be cool. That said, GI Joe has no current toy line so I'm not holding my breath. Truth be told, I'd probably not jump in anyways because 1. price and 2. I really only care about o-ring style joes anymore.

I would be supportive of any Gi Joe vehicles or play-sets. Would love a modern Flagg. It could be just as large as the original but with a modular design that can be easily disassembled in three or four sections for easy storage. An updated Terror Drome would be sweet too. Just get us some Gi Joe stuff.

Joe Haslab best bet would honestly be a new line of vintage or modern (either would sell) figures. 30/$300, 40/$400, or 50 figures for $500 would sell...but that’s a lot of design effort, and I don’t think Hasbro would bother with only 10/$100.

Honest question: do you guys really think there are 8,000 GI Joe Fans would be willing to pay $575 for a good Haslab project?
I'm not sure. There were many reasons to stay away from the club, but their FSS sets were only 1500-2000 based on some inventory numbers reported on the boxes. If it's a playset or large vehicle some fans would be out just due to room and having no interest beyond figures. Others Joe fans have stated continually they're not interested in paying more than retail prices for figures - so a major investment if off the table. I could see Hasbro being willing to create a Joe Haslabs project - but unfortunately I think there are legitimate concerns as to whether it could actually fund. |
